Burn Calories on the Dance Floor With Your Husband-to-Be

Dancing is a great way to let loose, work up a sweat, and have some fun with friends on a Friday night.

couple dancing Dancing is a great way to let loose, work up a sweat, and have some fun with friends on a Friday night. And if you've got an upcoming wedding in the works, you may already be choreographing a grand wedding entrance or taking lessons to perfect your first dance as a married couple.

The good news is, one hour of dancing can burn around 266 calories, so whether you're enrolled in a class or out social dancing, dancing can be a great way to keep the pounds off before the wedding day. Pair dancing with weekend hiking dates and you'll be getting in shape without even knowing it!

Prewedding Workout With Fiancé: Take a Hike!

Hiking is a fun but challenging activity that's great to do with your fiancé.

Hiking is a fun but challenging activity that's great to do with your fiancé. A day hitting the trail includes breathtaking views and up to 355 calories burned in just an hour!

To set a hiking date, pack a picnic of your favorite healthy foods and set out to a scenic spot to celebrate the long hike you just endured. Not only will you be spending the day together in the beautiful outdoors, but you'll also be getting a great workout to help you stay in shape for the wedding! New to hiking? Make sure to practice our hiking dos and don'ts before heading out on the trail.

DO
DON'T
  • Do your best to hike with friends. It's much safer than hiking alone, and more fun too!
  • Research the trail and area before heading out so you know what to expect.
  • Make sure to pack snacks, water, a cell phone, and a map or GPS device. Also bring along rain gear, extra layers, and your ID.
  • Tell people where you'll be. If anything happens to you, you want people to know where to look.
  • Always stick to the trail. It keeps you and the natural habitat safe.
  • If you need to go "number one," do so far away from the trail and any natural water sources. If you need to go "number two," dig a hole first and cover it when you are done. Carry toilet paper with you, or use a leaf to wipe — just make sure it's not poisonous!
  • Don't wear new hiking boots on an epic hike. You will end up with painful blisters.
  • Don't disturb animals or their homes. Be a quiet observer and take a few pics if you want.
  • Don't pick flowers or other plants.
  • Don't blare loud music or talk too loudly. Fellow hikers come to enjoy the quietness of nature so be respectful. (Unless of course you encounter a bear — then make as much noise as you can!)
  • Don't litter. Pack a small garbage bag so you can keep track of your trash and pick up after other messy hikers.
  • Don't stay on a trail that is too difficult for you. It's more than OK to turn around.

How to Get Your Arms Picture-Perfect For the Big Day

I'm in full-on wedding planning mode — I've decided on the venue, the photographer is booked, and the save-the-dates have been sent.

kiss I'm in full-on wedding planning mode — I've decided on the venue, the photographer is booked, and the save-the-dates have been sent. But there's one area I haven't really tackled yet — my "get in tip-top shape for the wedding" game plan.

Here's the thing, I just want to tone up and look my best, so I don't think that requires going to boot camp for three hours a day until the big day. An area of my body that I would like to get picture-perfect ready is my arms — a neglected area that thankfully gets a decent regular workout during yoga class. Other than that, I don't do weights or targeted arm exercises. . . sorry biceps.

I'm not stressing at all, because I know if I start incorporating some of the following exercises into my regular fitness routine, I'll be all set to show off my arms when the wedding day arrives. And you will too! Here are some of my favorites:
