Some people are born talkers. They could gab on the phone for hours on end and still find more things to discuss. Then there are those who almost pray to get voicemail in hopes of avoiding a live conversation.

Dating has gotten cozy with technology in 21st century America. There are dozens of ways for people to contact each other, and giving out your phone number feels like a measure of last resort anymore. And while an e-mail or a text message provides a nice screening step, a phone call still offers important cues about tone, humor and how someone actually interacts, listens, and responds.

For $69 those looking to spice up their phone calls could have owned this "conversation piece" belonging to the same genre as that leg lamp in A Christmas Story.
The ad reminds us that the phone was sculptured by a European artist, which makes it totally classy and not at all tacky. However judging by the photo, it's not so easy to talk on a naked-lady phone.

Yesterday I was lucky enough to spend an hour with Zac Efron! He and his castmates in Me and Orson Welles, Claire Danes and Christian McKay, talked about their new movie in a Q&A session with UK journalists alongside their director Richard Linklater. Zac looked handsome and casual in a blue t-shirt and jeans, and fiddled with a bottle top on the table while talking, he was pretty self-deprecating, as was Claire who looked gorgeous and was really funny.

When I was younger, I admired businesswoman Angela Bower on Who's the Boss?, aka "Yo Angeler" by her loving housekeeper, Tony Micelli. On the show, Angela was a successful advertising executive who preferred full-shouldered power suits, and almost always accessorized with oversize power earrings.
In a slick move, which I adored, Angela would promptly remove one of the earrings, and toss her feathered hairstyle back before picking up the phone.

Another one bites the dust. This week Grey's Anatomy took a break from the typical episode fodder, and instead we are treated to a whodunnit-style murder mystery when one of the doctors loses a patient in the midst of a crisis situation. We hear each doctor's story one by one, and when the cause of death is finally discovered someone is sent home.

I'm probably an overly conscientious film goer — I'm hyper aware of blocking little kids sitting behind me, and I always try to open candy pre-show, so as not to deal with those noisy plastic wrappers. Unfortunately, not everyone around me upholds the same courtesy. I remember going to a rock-doc earlier this Spring, where two teenagers in front of me had their tongues down each other's throats from the opening sequence all the way to the end credits.
