How Much Are You Worth?
Putting a price on things seems to be a theme this week. Yesterday I asked you how much you'd pay for an orgasm and today we're talking about the monetary worth of a housewife. As we all know, staying home and running the household is a full-time job and researches in the UK have estimated that the position of a housewife is valued at £30,000 ($60,000) a year.
What's Your Take on "Housewife Classes"?
I just read an article in the LA Times that struck a nerve with me, and I have a feeling you will all agree. This Fall, the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary will be offering a class on how to be a better housewife — a class only open to women, of course! This academic program will offer lectures on laundering stubborn stains and how to bake chocolate-chip cookies.

I've never been a full time stay-at-home mother (except for when I was on maternity leave), but I was raised by one and feel the sting every time I hear the term "housewife" used to describe a mom who opted out of the work force to focus on her children. The SAHM mamas I know aren't popping bonbons on the couch and watching soap operas or scrubbing the kitchen floor with a toothbrush and playing bridge, they are educating their offspring, shuttling carpools, catering school parties (when a lot of working parents can't make it), not to mention raising the next generation. This doesn't discount the fact that many working moms do some of the same things.

Made famous by her family's everyday antics on Bravo's show, The Real Housewives of New York City, Alex McCord has written a parenting book that will hit bookstore shelves at the end of this year or the beginning of next. Rather than an instructional read, the text will be a he said, she said penned by Alex and her hubby, Simon, about raising their young sons — Francois, 5, and Johan, 3, — in an urban environment. And, since they don't always agree, Alex said it makes for an interesting read.

Gwyn Goes From Housewife to Comic Book Character
Gwyneth is about to ditch those heels for a work out to get in shape for her latest movie, Iron Man with Robert Downey Jr. That's right, the actress who has spoken out about taking time off to be a mom and housewife is headed back to work. Gwyneth recently said this time off has been the best years of her life but she's ready to get her creative juices flowing again. Here's more:
