Victoria Beckham flew from Heathrow to Los Angeles yesterday, while David was at Wembley Stadium alongside Gordon Brown, Wayne Rooney and Gary Lineker supporting England's bid to host the World Cup in 2018. The Beckhams have made quite the impression on Paris Hilton, who said: "I am going to ask Victoria and David to be godparents to my children... I'm going to name my kids David and Victoria because she is so hot and I want kids as beautiful as her."

David Beckham left the football pitches of Milan to travel home and meet with Gordon Brown alongside his fellow sports stars Andy Murray and Denise Lewis yesterday. They were at 10 Downing Street to mark the launch of the Malaria No More UK campaign, as the trio are members of the leadership council of the campaign group. Gordon Brown promised to send 20 million malaria nets to Africa, and the UK has already delivered 9.7 million.

The G20 leaders, including Gordon Brown and Barack Obama, gathered for a reception hosted by the Queen at Buckingham Palace yesterday before heading to 10 Downing Street for a meal prepared by Jamie Oliver. Michelle Obama, in another great outfit from her warbrobe, dined with Sarah Brown at No. 11 with the other partners and British stars including JK Rowling, Naomi Campbell and athletes Kelly Holmes and Tanni-Grey Thompson.

Having returned to the UK on Monday after scaling Mount Kilimanjaro, the nine celebrities who took on the trek were treated to tea at Number 10 Downing Street with Gordon Brown and his wife, Sarah. Fearne Cotton, Denise Van Outen, Alesha Dixon, Cheryl Cole, Kimberely Walsh, Chris Moyles, Ronan Keating, Ben Shephard and Gary Barlow have raised more than £1.5 million thanks to their Red Nose Climb, and were rightly full of smiles as they celebrated with Gordon Brown, who didn't wear a red nose himself but did allow a huge one to hang from the front door! Saying: "We are proud of everything that nine great heroes have done", the Prime Minister also backed up his words with action and announced that the government plans to give £2 million to help fight malaria.

The royal family gathered in London yesterday as the Queen unveiled a new statue of the Queen Mother. The royal women, including Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, wore fancy hats and my girl FabUK wants to know whose headwear do you like best? The royals were also joined on the Mall by Prime Minister Gordon Brown and his wife, Sarah.

Gordon Ramsay and wife Tana held a fundraising dinner at London's Hanover Square last night, and were joined by Sophie Ellis-Bextor and hubby Richard Jones plus his bandmates from The Feeling. The event raised funds for Women's Aid: Gordon, Tana and Sarah Brown are patrons of the charity, which campaigns to end domestic violence. Sarah, who attended the fundraiser with husband Gordon Brown, brought some colour to the sea of LBDs in her pink dress and Mariella Frostrup shimmered in silver.

Pictures of Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin have surfaced, showing that even a wild beast can't overcome the defiant Russian leader. Putin saved a television crew and a group of scientists from a rare Ussuri tiger that escaped, while he visited a national park to learn how the scientists monitor the endangered animals.
Yesterday Britain urged the EU to stop talks between itself and Russia about building a closer relationship.

The G-8 Summit gets underway in Hakkaido, Japan today; a three-day meeting of the leaders of the eight countries invited, plus a representative of the European Union.
Grown from the concept of a forum of the major industrialized democracies after the 1973 oil crisis, more have been invited until 1997 when the last member, Russia, was invited at the initiative of then US President Bill Clinton.
The guest list is at the edge of controversy this year, as major climate issues are at hand, and two of the worst polluters (China and India) aren't invited.
