When you're crushing on someone, sometimes a little liquid courage is all you need to get things moving in the right direction. But when you reach for the phone after having a few too many, that momentary fearlessness could easily lead to total humiliation the next day. Nowadays we not only have to worry about drunk dialing, but we also need to keep drunk texting and drunk emailing in mind, which could do even more embarrassing damage than a simple missed call.

If you have sex, you have to deal with birth control. It may not be the funnest part about being sexual, but it's definitely necessary if you want to prevent pregnancy and the transmission of STIs. You've got to have talks with your partner about it, you have to go to the gynecologist or pharmacy to get birth control, and then of course you have to master how to use it.

Ah, Thanksgiving, a time to get together with family and friends, eat entirely too much food, and dredge up drama that manages to stay dormant most of the year.
Although I'm not facing any major family stress right now, I can still predict a handful of annoyances that will flare up among the group gathering for my Thanksgiving Day feast. Many breastfeeding mommas opt for reinforcement in hopes of keeping the good stuff flowing and I was no exception. The human body is an amazing work of art, especially the female form that can stretch and shrink with the birth of a child. While many moms can get back to the prebaby weight or even work their way back to abs of steel, their postpartum bodies will never be the same. A herniated belly button, stretch-marked tummies, or wide hips may be the indicators of motherhood that mommy will never be able to change.

For 20 years, Elle Decor's chic issues have offered readers ideas and inspiration for their homes. I've been collecting a giant stack of dog-eared Elle Decor issues for the last 10 years, so I'm excited to announce that the best of the magazine can now be found in Style and Substance ($45) by Margaret Russell and the editors of Elle Decor. I was thrilled to receive a (personally autographed!) copy of Style and Substance in my mailbox, and couldn't wait to review the book.
