For those of us who need recuperation, sometimes mellow weekends are a far better choice, even if it means staying in on Friday night.

It's a sad fact that the recession is bringing many family-run businesses to an end. Though exact stats are hard to pin down, the Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates that nearly 4.3 million businesses with 19 or fewer employees closed during 2007 and 2008. For many families, these small shops and restaurants are legacies — businesses that they've nurtured for decades, where generations have learned and passed along the family trade.

Courteney Cox and Busy Philipps showed off their bikini bodies Friday while filming Cougar Town in LA. Both ladies made it a bring-your-daughter-to-work day, with Coco Arquette tagging along with Courteney while Busy toted her young Birdie. While at a BlackBerry Storm event the other night, I couldn't help but notice the lack of business cards being exchanged between industry types. And while chatting with another blogger (who is as obsessed with phones as I am) about the upcoming E3 gaming expo, we agreed we should meet up while we were there. As I was fishing for a card to give her, she instead asked for my Twitter name and told me "business cards are so last year."

First, a designer appropriated the Google logo to use as a business card, now Facebook is getting the biz card treatment too, via Jean-Baptiste Gouraud's business cards, which look like a Facebook friend request page (and in French)!
As creative as Lego's Lego Figurine "Cards," I wonder how many other Internet-inspired business cards we'll see? A 140-character description of how marketable you are?

How radical, I've found Bo Obama's Busy Buddy Squirrel Dude ($9)! The toy bounces wildly all over the place when tossed, due to the odd shape, but the tough rubber holds up to strong chompers after a pup chases it all over the place.
As a bonus, the busy buddy keeps your buddy busy with an opening on the bottom where you can insert kibble or tiny training treats if he needs a little playtime encouragement.
