Regina Spektor is headed to the Great White Way! It was announced yesterday that the famous songstress will be creating the score for a new Broadway musical inspired by Sleeping Beauty.
As a Spektor fan, this news makes perfect sense to me.
probably - yes. i've seen a lot of broadway shows in my life since i've always lived in/around NYC and i think that now i'm more likely to go if there's some tied to the production. is that
bad?
I am a big fan of Broadway and often go down to NYC to see new shows of interest.
Although the composer/cast isn't as important as a good score/book would be, I can be more interested in checking something out if I like someone associated with the production.
For instance, I am really excited about The Addams Family on Broadway because I would love to see Bebe Neuwirth and Nathan Lane on Broadway, but if the music sucks ... I'm not spending $100+
to see it.
I love Broadway and I know that the composer of course makes a big difference - I would definitely watch a show composed by Regina Spektor; especially one for which she is so perfectly
suited! But this is kind of a misleading question - I wouldn't watch a Broadway play/musical just because the composer is famous, but because it sounds interesting and/or because I like the
musician and I think they will do a good job on the music...

I'd be more inclined if the musician was someone I absolutely love- like Regina Spektor! Sounds FABULOUS! That seems like a really great match too.
