Yep, it may be that beautiful time of year when the sun finally starts peeking its head out and the days get longer (sorry, East Coasters), but it's also that really crappy time of year when your heart starts to beat because you haven't filed your taxes yet. Beat no longer little hearts, and get it done online! Online tax services are usually free (or go up to around $15 or so, depending on your situation) and are fast and easy.

Don't fret if you still haven't tackled your 2008 tax return — you still have more than a week to file! April 15 is your deadline, so pencil in a date between now and then to complete what's been hanging over your head since the new year. If you're in danger of missing the big day, do yourself a favor and file for an extension (you're still not excused from paying Uncle Sam on the 15th if you owe money this year).

TeamSugar member frevirg pointed out one aspect of the rebate check schedule that I hadn't yet highlighted. While I paid for my tax service as soon as my tax return was filed and used my bank account, some tax services allow filers the option of having those fees taken directly from their tax refund. Frevirg was proactive and navigated around the TurboTax website, and found the following information that may be useful to some of you.

The way January has been flying by, April 15 will be here before we know it. There are two services offering free tax advice until Jan. 31, so you should take advantage of them while you can.
