Already a fan of Eric Carle's beautiful and creative illustrations in children's books such as Brown Bear, Brown Bear and The Hungry Caterpillar, I'm excited to see his art now appearing on alphabet flash cards ($15).
Each card has a letter of the alphabet on a colorful backdrop on one side and a splendidly illustrated animal to represent the letter on the other. And, the flash cards are made out of a heavy card stock, which makes for good tossing around the room without too much damage.

Caterpillars (long, fuzzy, segmented insects) are unable to pierce the skin with their bite. However, their hairs may get into the skin or eyes, causing symptoms in the area where the hairs entered.
Problems also can occur if someone breathes in caterpillar hairs that have been released into the air, or eats caterpillars.

User Chab captured a special moment of her babe reading one of our faves, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, to a captive audience. The two look deep in thought as they consider how a tiny creature can consume so much fruit! Mama titles this shot:
Wonder if the dog understands the story...

Phillip Watts has given new meaning to the term buggin' out with his Caterpillar Bench ($8,507), a three-seater bench of highly-polished cast aluminum shaped to resemble the leaf-eating larva. I don't know about you, but I'd prefer to see this piece of weird furniture metamorphose into a beautiful butterfly. What about you?

Most parents think about their child's costume and forget all about themselves when it comes to dressing up for the spooky holiday. Sibling pairs can be quite cute but if there's only one kiddo in the family, mom and pop should think about getting in on the act with their own tiny tot.
Mommy can dress the babe up as a monkey and don a foam banana.
