Living in sub-Saharan Africa isn't an easy existence for anyone — but for albino people living in one of Earth’s hottest areas has intense challenges. Their total lack of pigmentation, which affects 1 in 3,000, is excruciating under the glaring African sun — they are predisposed to severe skin burns and often die of skin cancer before the age of 30.
Though lately, the weather is the least of their problems.

As of late, West Nile Virus was the only virus we worried about here in the States that could be contracted by mosquito bites, but it looks like there's a new virus that could be flying our way — Chikungunya. The mouthful of a virus has spread across Africa, India, the French Island of Reunion, and there have also been cases found in Italy and France since 2005. Health officials are worried that this virus will soon infect those living in Europe and the US.

Cheryl Cole and Kimberley Walsh joined Chris Moyles, Denise Van Outen, Fearne Cotton, Gary Barlow and Ronan Keating at Heathrow Airport at the weekend to board a flight to Tanzania for their Mount Kilimanjaro climb in aid of Comic Relief. Cheryl wore a cute Madonna top, one of the Stella McCartney designed t-shirts, but on arrival they all discovered they'd packed too many clothes, much to Fearne Cotton's horror, who said: "Up a mountain with four pairs of socks? No way am I letting delicate little Cheryl Cole smell my big cheesy feet."

Australia hits theaters today, but Nicole Kidman took a break from her busy press schedule to present a petition against violence towards women at the United Nations in NYC yesterday. As a UNIFEM Goodwill Ambassador, Nicole talked about how happy she was to get over 5 million signatures, saying, “We thought that the more names we collected, the stronger our case to make ending violence against women a top priority for governments everywhere. I was recently at the new Oxbow Public Market in Napa, where I came across a little organic scoop shop from Three Twins Ice Cream. While the ice cream is smooth and delicious, it was actually the absurdly expensive sundaes that caught my eye.
I asked the gal behind the counter if they've ever served an expensive sundae, and she said not yet, but she was sure it was bound to happen someday.

In Kenya today President Mwai Kibaki named rival Raila Odinga prime minister. The power-sharing deal became official after lengthy negotiations over the agreement they signed more than a month ago.
The two became locked in heated debate over the governing of Kenya following disputed elections between them last December.
