For some women, masturbation is not only recreation, it's an act that helps them learn what they like sexually, so that they can have more fun with a partner.
But even for women who feel comfortable masturbating, sex toys can seem intimidating or even "dirty."
And finally, there are the ladies who would tell you you'd have to pry their Rabbit Pearls or Hitachi Magic Wands out of their cold, dead hands.

"My concern is these students are in this developmental phase, and I don't think it's a good developmental practice to just tell somebody to just sit around and masturbate. I don't think that promotes good relationships."
— Father Joe Vetter, Duke University's Catholic Center director, reacting to news that a behavioral economist and student health workers at Duke University asked women on campus to discuss how they felt about sex toys.

"[Y]eah, money's tight. If people are going to spend their dollars, they want to know it's a good product. People are staying home more, so we've directed more marketing efforts toward cheap date nights — for the price of a movie and dinner, buy a vibrator, stay home and have fun."

Sex can be a wild ride, and amusement park rides sure sound like sex toys. After making the first sex toy or roller coaster quiz, I had so many more ridiculous names to choose from that I figured I'd test your sex-toy savvy yet again. Do you feel the need for speed?

When I first saw the pink beaded strands in this One Night Stand Kit ($19), I thought they were hair rubber bands, which actually could come in handy during an unexpected hookup. But no, they are "love beads," packaged alongside a tiny vibrator, a vibrator ring, Please Gel samples, and two condoms — everything you'd need for a one-night stand. (This is basically the Walk of Shame Kit but without the cancer awareness bracelet!) Assuming you don't live in Alabama, would you buy something like this?

Love Stuff, a sex toy shop in Hoover, AL, recently filed a challenge to strike down a 1998 law that bans the sale of sex toys. Alas, anyone who wants to buy sex toys in Alabama will have to go elsewhere. The Alabama Supreme Court upheld the state's ban in a 7-2 decision on Friday, arguing against Love Stuff's claim that the ban violated a person's right to sexual privacy.

We know that girls, women, and grannies around the globe have gone gaga over the guys in Twilight, with an emphasis, of course, on one Robert Pattinson. Cue the imaginary screams from a gaggle of teens . .

Since sex toys and roller coasters depend on thrills, length, and speed, it's not surprising that both seem to draw from the same pool of names. Sure, you've got your fairly obvious Eroscillator vibrators and Cyclone coasters, but other labels sound virtually interchangeable. Can you tell your amusement park rides from your more personal amusements?

I guess if you're in a pickle and can't find your vibrator, a cucumber will do. This ad suggests that they don't like that very much.
