To help kids better understand the recession, Sesame Street will air a one hour special next week called Families Stand Together: Feeling Secure in Tough Times. The show stars Al Roker and Deborah Roberts, as well as personal finance and parenting experts to discuss strategies for maintaining children's well-being during hardships. When his mother loses her job, Elmo is forced to work through his family's issues. Targeting two to eight-year-olds, the show also features real life families and their tips to surviving the obstacles they have overcome.

We love to see familiar faces hanging with Elmo and Big Bird, but this clip is outtakes from the popular kid's show. Instead of discussing the alphabet or Mr. Noodle, these two are giving high fours and cracking up with the camera crew. Michelle Obama Meets Big Bird on Sesame Street

Someone told the first lady how to get to Sesame Street! After making appearances everywhere from soup kitchens to military hospitals, Michelle Obama addressed a crowd at the US Mission to the United Nations in New York on Tuesday and talked about her biggest accomplishment since taking on her new role. She said:

I'm thrilled to be here, but I was just at Sesame Street - I'm sorry. And I never thought I'd be on Sesame Street with Elmo and Big Bird and I was thrilled. I'm still thrilled. I'm on a high. I think it's probably the best thing I've done so far in the White House. But we were there talking about nutrition and healthy eating, and it's just been a thrill.

It's clear that children are a priority for this mom of two. Mrs. Obama is the latest of a long line of celebrities who have made guest appearances on the beloved educational kiddie show.
