If you fear growing old, here's one more thing to worry about: it's almost impossible to have sex in a nursing home.
An op-ed in the LA Times this week explains why "privacy rooms" — places where residents can do anything they want — are necessary if the elderly are to retain their right to sex. See, basic privacy is elusive in most residences.

With 8,000 boomers turning 60 everyday, the US must prepare for the looming senior boom. Like it did with every other episode of life, the baby boomer generation intends to leave its own groovy mark on the golden chapter of life. As a result, senior centers want to do their best to weather the next generational clash between their original senior clients, and the newcomers.

Great minds think alike — wisdom isn't wasted on the young. This weekend an Oregon man won this year's Great American Think-Off, a national philosophy competition asking ordinary people to debate extraordinary questions. Germany has one of the lowest birth rates in Europe and they are planning for the following decades, where the elderly, are the future. So, what's a city with a unstoppable growing population of elderly people to do?

I may have a game-loving gramps, but he doesn't really venture into the Internet without a little assistance. I'll cut him a break since he's in his eighties, but a recent study shows that more and more seniors are taking the plunge into Facebook, blogs, and tech in general than ever before. There have been changes in the appearances of the High School Musical cast since the first TV film aired on the Disney Channel in 2006, especially in the case of the gorgeous Zac Efron, now 20, who now walks the red carpet as a bona fide teen idol. Hundreds of screaming fans agreed that he was looking suavely handsome in London's Leicester Square last night for the High School Musical 3: Senior Year premiere, alongside his similarly photogenic onscreen and offscreen girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens and their costars Ashley Tisdale and Corbin Bleu.
Love it or hate it, the HSM phenomenon is absolutely enormous, advance ticket sales for this movie in the UK are above £800,000 and will be close to £1 million by the time the film shows at cinemas on October 22.

In October, High School Musical 3: Senior Year will hit the big screen in the UK and the trailer made its debut on US TV over the weekend. The first low-budget TV movie was an undeniable success with tweens across the world, made a massive star of Zac Efron (who went on to be fab in Hairspray), and created a great kinda-evil sibling duo in Ashley Tisdale and Lucas Grabeel's Sharpay and Ryan Evans. The second continued that tradition with brighter colours, summer holidays and an unintentionally amusing song set on a golf course, now HSM3 looks set to up the ante with its cinema release.

I already knew that senior citizens would rather play the Wii over bridge, but did you know that Wiihabilitation is also taking the country by storm? For James Mann, a patient at Wake Med Health Park in Raleigh, N.C., playing the Nintendo Wii is not only a great source of fun, but it's also helping him recover from a stroke. Shown here with recreational therapist Elizabeth Penny (see pics below), James takes part in games of Wii baseball to help him with his balance, coordination and the strengthening of his arms — how great is this?!
