Richard Simmons Might Run For Office to Fight Child Obesity

When you think lobbyist, workout guru Richard Simmons comes to mind, right? Well yesterday Simmons testified before Congress, lobbying for more physical education in the nation's schools. He also found time for some dancing in the streets.

Ditching his patriotic workout outfit for a suit, Simmons told the House Education Committee:

Our children today will not live as long as their parents. What have we done? What have we done to the kids of the United States of America! This is wrong! And I will dedicate the rest of my life! And chairperson George Miller - I just may run for office to help this really get through and not have one kid feel lousy about himself because he can't throw a ball!"

Simmons says that as a fat kid who never took PE, he wants to do what he can to help every child, every day, engage in physical activity. PE may need the help - public school budget cuts often mean PE gets cut, and sixteen-percent of American children are overweight or obese.

While PE funding should be a priority, perhaps schools in a pinch could make healthier lunch menu choices, while leaving the exercise to the parents.

Who knew that everyone's favorite spazoid in daisy dukes was a wise guy, too? Richard Simmons made a guest appearance on Whose Line Is It Anyway? and flexed his comedic muscles for the camera. He was well received by the crowd, but I think the other comics on stage were creeped and scarred by the whole ordeal. And by "ordeal," I mean hypersexual, obnoxious nightmare.

Get Motivated: Lighten Up With Richard Simmons

Whether or not you enjoy Richard Simmons, one thing for sure is that he sure is motivating. Sirius Satellite has Richard's weight-loss show, Lighten Up, every Sunday from 3 p.m. – 6 p.m. EST on channel 102.

During the show, Richard reads faxes, letters, and emails from people who need a little lift or a little push, and then he calls them directly to give advice, provide a shoulder to cry on, or just make them laugh (which I did). While he can be a little over the top at times, he truly seems to care about the people who call in, who he calls, and those who are listening. If you have Sirius you should definitely check it out and be sure to let us know if you were motivated or not.

Heidi Klum Hits the Runway With the Angels at VS Show!

The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show returned to New York City last night, where the girls stripped down to their lingerie despite the chilly weather outside. There were some playful moments throughout the show, but perhaps the biggest surprise was Heidi Klum. Just six weeks after giving birth to her daughter Lou, Heidi said she was hosting not walking for the event, but she still took to the catwalk in a sexy getup and strode the carpet in a tiny LBD. Fergie got into the spirit performing with the Black Eyed Peas on stage while models like Selita Ebanks, Miranda Kerr and Chanel Iman walked. Marissa Miller was the chosen one to wear the diamond studded bra this year.

On the red carpet, both Heidi and Fergie both showed off some leg on the famous pink carpet where they were joined by Gossip Girl Michelle Trachtenberg. There were, naturally, some men out for the spectacle as well including Jay-Z, Dr. Dre and Jeremy Sisto. While Heidi was busy on the runway, the sixth season of Project Runway came to an end last night - check out the winner here!

Top Chef Masters: Episode 6

The first round of Top Chef Masters was completed last night. The final quartet of chefs included no females, but Jonathan Waxman, Roy Yamaguchi, Michael Cimarusti, and Art Smith. Is it bad that I secretly want Jonathan Waxman to win simply because he trained Bobby Flay?
