When I was in college, in addition to all the books I had to read for school, I was an avid fiction reader. Even then, if I read a book a week, I felt I was doing pretty well.
Forty-six-year-old Nina Sankovitch of Westport, CT, made it her goal to read book a day while blogging (naturally!) about her activities, in part to share her love of books with others and as a way to get through the pain of her sister's death in 2005.

The New York City subway roars beneath the city's streets, which means one thing to its riders. No cell phone or Internet reception. (Two things if you don't like climbing stairs!) I consider both to be pluses.

We take reading to our children for granted. Many families have stacks of texts on their shelves and also take part in lending libraries. It's hard to imagine not being able to flip the pages of a book on a whim.

Photographer Todd Selby recently shot the home of Stefano Tonchi, the editor of The New York Times's style glossy T Magazine, and I am completely envious of the little reading nook in his living room. With two big wing chairs and a small side table beside jam-packed, floor-to-ceiling, built-in bookshelves, it's the ideal place to cozy up with a good read. And, it doesn't hurt that he has fabulous contemporary artwork to stir his mind.

The benefits of reading with children are beyond debate. It helps teach them letter and word recognition, engages them in conversation, and introduces them to new concepts. Transferring those benefits to the online world is not easy, but Speakaboos tries to do just that.

Though I've yet to splurge on a Kindle 2, I'm dying for one, since I don't think I'll ever grow out of my bookworminess.
Until I get one, I'll still read them the old-fashioned way, and I can still use tech to find new reads. Book Army is my new destination for literary recommendations.
