President Obama met with America's mayors today, promising to "call them out" if they spend stimulus money in a wasteful way.
The president told the Conference of US Mayors that he needed unprecedented responsibility and accountability. He said: If a federal agency proposes a project that will waste that money, I will not hesitate to call them out on it, and put a stop to it.

The US Conference of Mayors, meeting in Miami, banned bottled water this week. The cities will no longer use municipal funds to purchase water bottles.
San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom, who proposed the resolution along with 17 other big-city mayors, said: "Cities are sending the wrong message about the quality of public water when we spend taxpayer dollars on water in disposable containers from a private corporation."

Lanvin's creative director Alber Elbaz was honoured in Paris on Friday by the city's Mayor, Bertrand Delanoë. Bertrand presented Alber with the Grande Médaille de Vermeil de la Ville de Paris which is an honour given to cultural figures who have an impact on the city.
Alber thanked Ralph Toledano from Chloé for “opening the doors to Paris” and Lanvin owner Shaw-Lan Wang for welcoming him to his current position where he has been for eight years.

Anne Hathaway joined NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg and actor Alan Cumming last night for the annual dinner thrown by the Empire State Pride Agenda, which works to advance LGBT causes in the region. Anne's enjoying a little break from work after her Summer filming Valentine's Day and doing Shakespeare in the Park, but she'll soon be gearing up to take on another kind of role — she's in talks to star in the animated film Rio along with NPH. Anne looked a little less fancy this morning, when she and boyfriend Adam Shulman headed out to run some errands in the city.

Gloria Squitiro, the wife of Kansas City Mayor Mark Funkhouser says she volunteers 70 hours a week to help her husband fulfill his campaign promises, but critics say she's doing a job that she wasn't elected to do. After resigning, the mayor's former chief-of-staff said, "It was kind of like having your mother-in-law go along on your honeymoon."
