6 Foods to Share on a First Date

Yesterday I listed 12 foods to avoid on a first date, and most of you had your fair share to say on the subject - looks like we all have issues with certain ingredients! On the flip side though, there are some foods that can actually bring an element of flirtation to a meal. I've always been a fan of sharing, so here is my list of six foods that can heat up a meal on a first date.

Fondue
Sushi, if eaten gracefully - rolls should be eaten in one bite
Tapas
Anything cooked for two
Oysters
Ice cream - especially with chocolate sauce

12 Foods to Avoid on a First Date

Since first dates usually revolve around a meal, it's important to pay attention to what you eat, how you eat it, and how it'll affect you later in the night! November's issue of Cosmo touched upon mastering a first date, and named six foods to avoid in order to do just that. Check out their six below, and six of my own too!

A messy plate of spaghetti with tomato sauce
Escargots with butter and garlic
Deep-fried anything
A salad with low-fat dressing on the side
Three-bean chili
Barbecued chicken wings

Steamed crab - or any kind of shellfish that requires the use of your hands
A burger or sandwich that's too big or sloppy to eat gracefully
Indian food - the smell of curry stays with you

Group Therapy: He Missed Our First Date - Does He Get Another Chance?

Last night I had tentative plans to go out with a guy I've had my eye on for months. He was supposed to call me when he was done golfing, but I never heard from him.

Today he left me a message saying he took a nap after golf and didn't wake up until it was dark outside. He apologized profusely and says he feels horrible. Do I give him a second chance? If so, what should I say in response to his message?

Do Tell: What Kind of Date Do You Prefer?

Some people are born daters - they feel totally comfortable in the awkward getting-to-know-you phase and they love the thrill of the unknown. I'm the complete opposite: Dating makes me incredibly uncomfortable, which is why I'd much prefer to go out than stay in. When you're at a restaurant or a bar, you have so many things to stimulate conversation or diffuse a bad date if necessary. It's not until I really like someone that I'd be open to hanging out at home and really letting my guard down. Of course no one date is better than the other, so do tell: Are you more comfortable going out or staying in when it comes to the wonderful world of dating?

A Do or a Don't: Kissing on a First Date

Call me easy, but I think kissing on a first date is important - you can tell if you have any chemistry and get a feel for your partner's level of passion. With that said, I have friends that completely disagree with me - they feel a kiss should be saved for someone you really like, not shared with someone you went on a mediocre date with. So where do you stand? Is kissing on a first date a do or a don't in your eyes?

Group Therapy: I Had Sex on the First Date - Is That a Bad Move?

I went on a date with this guy over the weekend. We went bowling for almost four hours and then we ended up kissing. We went back to my place, one thing led to another, and we had sex. I really like this guy, but now I'm worried I messed it all up by sleeping with him on the first date. He called me today and asked if I wanted to get together this weekend, but I'm worried that he's going to think this is just a sex thing. Can you please help put my mind at ease?

Group Therapy: First Date at His Place?

The guy I'm interested in has invited me over to his place for drinks. Technically this would be our "first date." My guess is he thinks he's going to get some. I'm not completely prude but I want something real this time -you know? Any tips on how I can give him a good time without the sex?
