Drug Research
Topiramate (Topamax), an anticonvulsant drug used to treat epilepsy, is showing promise as a treatment for alcohol dependence. In a 2007 study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, patients who took topiramate had fewer heavy drinking days, fewer drinks per day, and more days of not drinking at all than patients who received placebo.
Alcohol and Heart Disease
Heart disease is one of the leading causes of death among people who are heavy drinkers.

This New Year's Eve, I'm planning on doing a super low-key gathering with some friends since I have to I have to catch a flight the next day. Plane ride plus hangover? No thanks.

After last week's shocking revelation that Serena killed someone, I had a feeling last night's Gossip Girl was going to be a little heavy. My favourite thing about last night was Nate, Chuck, Blair, and Serena coming together to try and sort everything out. I was also pretty happy about getting a break from Jenny following her social rise and fall.
