Takeru Kobayashi continues to beef up his competitive eating record. Yesterday, the Japanese speed-eating demon defeated two-year reigning champion Joey Chestnut in the Krystal Square Off World Hamburger Eating Championship in Chattanooga, TN. Before a live televised audience and a crowd of 10,000, Kobayashi crushed the competition by eating 93 Krystal hamburgers in eight minutes over Chestnut's 81.

Update: Joey Chestnut has reclaimed the title in a tie-breaking eat-off. Rumor has it, he's not spending the rest of the afternoon riding the Cyclone roller coaster.
Today is the day for that most blessed and sacred of all Fourth of July customs: the IFOCE/Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Competition at New York's Coney Island.

A few months ago we noticed that competitive eating was a rapidly growing "sport": This year, 1.5 million people tuned in to ESPN to watch the Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest, and there's now a game, Major League Eating, available on the Nintendo Wii. Yesterday the world's best competitive eaters met at a pizza eating competition in New York City's Time Square. Joey Chestnut, the nation's champion in hot dog and hamburger eating, broke the record with an amazing 45 slices in ten minutes at the Famous Famiglia pizza eating competition. Pat "Deep Dish" Bertoletti was Chestnut's closest opponent — he ate 43 slices in the quick ten minutes.

Thanks to a full season of Top Chef's indulgent cuisine, the reality hostess admits she's likely to go up a couple dress sizes during filming. Still, Padma Lakshmi doesn't let the extra pounds take a toll on her healthy fitness perspective, and shares with Glamour how a positive attitude and a realistic take on eating help her shed the weight.
For one, Padma reveals that when Top Chef contestants aren't whipping up something decadent for her to taste, she's likely to be cooking something healthy at home.

After a brief hiatus with last week's Fabio-hosted reunion dinner, we went back to Vegas — and into Padma's hotel room — for this week's episode of Top Chef.
The final six chefs started things off by cooking breakfast in bed for their fearless hostess and her celebrity chef friend Nigella Lawson. For the elimination challenge, each contestant created a dish for a party, drawing inspiration from different casinos on the strip.
