If you have a guest bedroom or storage space that you rarely use, keep that room off your Winter heating radar. Do so by closing the heating vents in the room, and closing the door. Use a draft blocker on the door to prevent the room's cold air from seeping into other rooms of your house.

The Suzani trend doesn't seem to be going anywhere any time soon. But the trap with most trends is to buy into a big retailers' interpretation. For instance, Suzani is an intricate, beautiful, and colorful style of needlework that hails from Central Asia, but Natori sells a bedding set that is actually only printed, inspired by patterns often seen in Suzani work.

Houseplants tend to be comfortable with the same temperatures their owners prefer. They can handle the daytime heat, the nighttime chill, and, of course, room temperature. But just as you shrug your shoulders when brushed with a burst of chilly wind, houseplants can be decimated by a cold draft.

While neither candidate is anticipating reviving a draft any time soon, they disagree on one key component: whether to require women to register for Selective Service. Obama supports a requirement for both men and women to register for the draft while McCain doesn't. The Selective Service system was revived by Jimmy Carter in 1980 to require all men between the ages of 18 and 25 to register, just in case a massive expansion of the military is necessary.

If you don't have time to make the DIY Window Draft Blocker, you can simply take a knee sock, fill it with rice, and lay it across the bottom edge of a drafty window or door. Choose a cute striped or patterned sock to make your draft blocker an eye catcher instead of an eyesore, and watch those heating bills dip as the temperatures indoors stabilize.

This week, Peter and Pauline said good-bye to the So You Think You Can Dance stage. The tapper and the jazz dancer who had also been partners took some time this morning to talk about their experiences on the show with a few reporters.
Peter:
- On how great of a venue the show is for tap: I think it was time for tap to be on the show, and I definitely think that So You Think You Can Dance needs more of it.
