Basset Hounds are the best. They're all depressed and lethargic looking on the outside — even when they're jumping for joy on the inside. It's an endearing quality that makes me want to run over and squeeze some life back into them.

This little chihuahua has a pet peeve and it's not the household cat. It's even worse. It's getting towel dried.

Everyone's favorite "happy" homemaker recently gave Sam the dog a bath on her show. No big deal. That is, until the animal intelligence experts over at Best Week Ever got their hands on the footage and gave a little insight into Sam's scathing subconscious thoughts.

For 20 years, Elle Decor's chic issues have offered readers ideas and inspiration for their homes. I've been collecting a giant stack of dog-eared Elle Decor issues for the last 10 years, so I'm excited to announce that the best of the magazine can now be found in Style and Substance ($45) by Margaret Russell and the editors of Elle Decor. I was thrilled to receive a (personally autographed!) copy of Style and Substance in my mailbox, and couldn't wait to review the book.

You might have caught a glimpse of Vanessa Williams's sense of humor in the first installment of my interview with her, in which we discussed her use of Botox, along with her love of cars, Irish music, and baking carrot cakes.
Currently, in conjunction with the Dress For Success organization, Vanessa is making a few appearances for the Botox Cosmetic: Express Success Campaign, and in October, we'll be seeing her back on the air as the villainous Wilhelmina Slater on the much-loved Ugly Betty. And now, as promised, there's more from Vanessa after the jump.

I learned quite a bit at the Ugliest Dog Contest — like "beauty is in the eye of the beholder," and that one of the competitors admittedly hops in the shower with her semi-hairless dog. Although first wondering how and why that worked, I visualized trying to bathe a large pooch and imagined it'd be easier to hop into a tub or shower with the dog for a better grip, right? (Full disclaimer: North gets bathed in the sink.) What's your take on this?

I live in a dog house. That is to say, sometimes my dog, North, lets me in his territory. Though we don't share our space with any kitties, I know many of you do.

Just about every kid wants a pet during their childhood and begging and pleading generally play a role in acquiring animals. As a bargaining tool, children tend to promise to care for the furry friend — feeding, bathing and walking the newest family member.
First Lady Michelle Obama fell victim to such empty pledges from her two daughters, Sasha and Malia.
