Over the years, I've gone from being the woman who uneasily laughs when a man tells a sexist joke to being the person who rolls her eyes and says, "You know, I don't find that funny, and it makes me pretty uncomfortable."
At the risk of being called a "humorless feminist" (I mean, if it were funny, I would laugh!), I think it's important for women to be honest if a joke makes them uneasy. It may also teach that person that you're not going to be a party to your own denigration, and the jokester may spare the next woman his "humor."

We women have distinctive tastes. Unlike men, women have varying opinions on what is attractive.
A study we discussed earlier this week asked people to rate pictures based on attractiveness.

You may think the statement "the dog ate my homework" is a well-worn cliché used only by fictional children in books or movies. Well, think again, as not one but two recent news stories feature dogs enjoying some paper goodies.
Case one, a woman (now being charged with identity theft and forgery) who claimed her dog got into her purse and ate all her personal checks .

I saw a woman on public transportation the other day who was dressed to the nines — very self-consciously so.
She had on loads of Diana Vreeland-esque bangles, black leggings, a black cape, black hat, black heels, a red skirt and red lips. She was also rocking a bowl cut.

The Internet is increasingly putting a strain on marriages in Ireland and presumably on relationships in other countries, too. According to a major marriage counseling service in Ireland, too much time spent in cyberspace by one partner is becoming more common as the number one problem in a marriage.
Even perfectly healthy relationships often have a weak spot.

I've never read the book Why Men Love Bitches, but the title is pretty arresting, and having perused The Rules, He's Just Not That Into You, et al, I think I can probably construct the argument without it.
Basically, unless you're a challenge and make him work a little to show you he's worthy of your attention, you're a doormat, and a lot of men will take advantage of that. For example, you're not supposed to call the guy you like a lot (particularly at the beginning when you're just getting to know each other), you're not supposed to drop plans you had because he invited you out (duh!), and it's important you have your own life.

I'm still in shock that Michael Jackson, an artist who contributed so much to popular culture, is no longer with us. Luckily for all his fans, his music lives on. Out of all his 13 number one songs and countless other hits, it's hard to pick my favorite MJ song.

Resident Frenchie Samson had a bit of a health fiasco this week, and was taken to the ER for treatment! Word on the street is that he may have ingested some sort of toxin leaving him with muscle spasms and vomiting, which we all can imagine, are big signs of trouble. Thankfully, Samson is doing much better, but it sure did give mom a scare.

Cat loving TrèsSugar spotted a recent article naming the most famous bookstore cats from across the country including the (late) Fup of Powell's Books in Portland, OR seen here. Seems felines and fiction go together like Dewey and decimal since enough libraries have resident kitties that there's actually a Library Cat Society. Who knew?
