Flashback: Size Doesn't Matter?
The copy for this ad doesn't really make much sense. This scowling man says he doesn't care about the length of his cigarette, but then goes on to declare that Winston Super Kings give him the extra length he wants. So, maybe in the end size does matter?
New Law Bans Flavored Cigarettes
The FDA sees flavored cigarettes as a gateway drug, encouraging children and young adults to become regular smokers. So a new federal law enacted this Summer, which bans the production, distribution, or sale of flavored cigarettes goes into effect today. This includes clove and candy- and fruit-flavored cigarettes — anything but minty-fresh menthol.
Reality Check: Electronic Cigarettes Are Not So Healthy
Smoking regular cigarettes is known to cause a whole slew of health problems from asthma to emphysema and lung cancer. For some reason though, people keep smoking, so someone came up with the brilliant idea to make electronic cigarettes, also known as e-cigarettes.
These battery-powered electronic cigarettes provide inhaled doses of nicotine, although no flame, tobacco, or smoke is involved.

Flashback: '50s Cigarette Commercial
The smokers of the 1950s had no idea just how harmful lighting up could be. At the time, there was no hard evidence to definitively link cigarette use with chronic or fatal health conditions, so tobacco companies had free reign to claim that their "snow fresh, filtered cool" smokes would leave the throat feeling refreshed and clean. Hmm.
Freaky or Fabulous? Colorful Cigarettes
This Hollywood Dreams editorial in April's Flair magazine makes me want to pack up and head South to where the sun do shine. It doesn't hurt that it features one of the naturally sexiest models out there, Flavia Oliveira. I'm not endorsing smoking (I promise, Fit!), but doesn't she look way cool with those Nat Sherman rainbow cigarettes?
Shameless Old-School Cigarette Advertising
They weren't aware of the dangerous and deadly consequences of cigarette smoking back in the day. As some of these ads suggest, it was the "cool" thing to do; even doctors endorsed certain brands of cigs! And so, without reluctance, advertisers did what they do best.
