"I was against the constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage nation-wide, and I still think that the American people should be able to play this out in debates. But me, Bill Clinton personally, I changed my position. I am no longer opposed to that. I think if people want to make commitments that last a lifetime, they ought to be able to do it."

President Clinton Thinks Brad Is Doing Something Right

Brad Pitt was still looking shaggy this afternoon when he met up with President Clinton at the Clinton Global Initiative in NYC. Brad was there to give a progress report on his work in New Orleans with Make It Right, and to accept a honor from the US Green Building Council for constructing the largest community of green homes in the world. Brad's environmentally friendly design work in Louisiana is earning praise from more than just former presidents - he's also been named as a fellow by the prestigious Design Futures Council.

Matt and Bill Make Quite a Pair at the Clinton Global Initiative

Matt Damon took a break from working on The Adjustment Bureau in NYC today to make an appearance at the Cinton Global Initative. He posed with the event's main man Bill after giving a short speech, in which Matt and water.org co-founder Gary White announced their new multi-year plan to bring clean water to people in Haiti. Matt also took the stage at the convention last year to address the same issue, though this time around he has twelve months of good deeds to back up his talk.

Jon Stewart to Bill Clinton: Are You Batman?

Just like Jon Stewart, I was wondering what the heck must have gone through Bill Clinton's mind when he met North Korea's Kim Jong Il with hopes of securing the release of journalists Laura Ling and Euna Lee. Well last night, the former president chatted with Jon about the whole ordeal. My favorite part came when Jon asked Bill about his role as Batman, since, you know, Clinton acts as an international superhero these days. Clinton revealed that he prefers to think of himself as a character from a James Bond movie. Check out the clip!

Do You Like Seeing Politicians on Late Night TV?

Earlier this week CBS announced that President Barack Obama will be on The Late Show With David Letterman on Monday. In fact, the entire broadcast will be devoted to Obama's visit, which is a huge milestone. Obama was a guest several times on the program during his campaign for office, but this is the first time a current president has appeared on the show.

I get why Obama is sitting in Dave's chair, but isn't The Late Show better suited to guests like, oh, Drew Barrymore and George Clooney? Not to mention, President Bill Clinton is set to be Letterman's guest on Tuesday, so we'll have back-to-back policy talk.

Maybe it's just me, but I've always tuned into late night shows for the lighter celebrity stuff. If I want to hear about health care reform, I'll flip to MSNBC. But what's your take on this - do you like watching politicians on late night TV?

Matt Mixes and Mingles to Benefit ONEXONE

Matt Damon has been in A-List company during his time at the Toronto Film Festival, and last night he was joined by another famous face, Bill Clinton, for a dinner benefiting his ONEXONE foundation. Taking a break from promoting The Informant!, Matt opened up about the importance of his charity work of brining clean water to areas with limited access. He said, "I was in Ethopia couple of months ago and there was this hand-dug well with kids dipping their bottles into something that looked like chocolate milk. . . When I get back from one of these trips, I sit with my wife and finally, after hours and hours of silence, I'll start talking about what I've just seen and experienced." Lucky Matt has a table full of ladies to share his stories with, though yesterday it was only wife Luciana by his side for the star-studded philanthropic event.

Say What? Hillary's in Charge

"You want me to tell you what my husband thinks? My husband is not secretary of state, I am. If you want my opinion, I will tell you my opinion. I am not going to be channeling my husband."

- Still on her trip to Africa yesterday, Hillary Clinton responded to a Congolese student who asked for her husband's opinion on an international policy matter. Don't worry Hillary, Bill's North Korea rescue mission last week didn't make us forget that you're still working hard as secretary of state.

Update: Apparently the Congolese student's question got lost in translation. The student told Hillary after the event that he had asked what President Obama thought, but the translator misquoted him as asking about Bill.

The Other Clinton Is Working Hard Too

While her husband stole the headlines this week, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is hard at work. As top diplomat for the US, Hillary is currently touring Africa, where she was offered 40 goats and 20 cows by a Kenyan man earlier today for daughter Chelsea's hand in marriage. Hillary graciously replied: "My daughter is her own person, very independent, so I will convey this very kind offer."

But of course her mission in Africa goes beyond fielding marriage proposals for Chelsea. Wrapping up her trip to Kenya, the first stop on her seven-nation tour, Clinton met with Somalia's president at the US embassy in Nairobi to discuss the US commitment to helping Somalia's government fight Islamic extremists. Hillary is the highest ranking official to meet with the head of Somalia's government - a government that is only five years old! In addition to working toward stability in Somalia, Hillary also had a chance to express US support for the International Criminal Court and visit the site of the 1998 bombings at the US embassy in Nairobi that killed 213 people. She is pictured above with a survivor of the bombing.

While Hillary's diplomatic efforts might be a little less flashy than Bill's, it's obvious she's committed.

Dick Morris: Clinton's Deed Comes at Too High a Cost

Now that Bill Clinton has helped bring journalists Euna Lee and Laura Ling home safely from North Korea, prominent politicos are speaking out against the way the release was handled. Appearing on Fox News today, former Clinton adviser Dick Morris argued that negotiating with North Korea gives the rogue state "an opportunity to rehabilitate its image globally simply to get two reporters out of jail."

Former UN ambassador John Bolton makes a similar argument that the trip is a "propaganda victory for North Korea," claiming that involving dignitaries like Clinton could create more danger to Americans in the future.

So what should we do with the journalists, just leave them there? Pretty much, says Morris: "What were they doing in North Korea in the first place?" Well, here's what I think.
