A couple of Summers ago my mom and I were driving and passed a roadside stand that sold "every kind of jerky" — including bison and venison. We wondered who would stop to purchase the jerky. Fast forward a few hours and we arrive home to find my father snacking on jerky he bought from the stand!

Off the top of my head I can't remember the last time I've seen British bombshell Elizabeth Hurley on screen, but for good reason — she's packed everything up Green Acres style. The former actress has left the high life of London to live on a 400-acre organic farm in Gloucestershire where she shares space with cattle, poultry, sheep, and pigs.
She's not stopping there either.

I just couldn't resist putting up this picture of little Samson as he sat nicely and waited for his Bit O Luv Bistro Beef dog treat. It's just too cute! Bit O Luv's philosophy about dogs not just being pets, but being a part of your family, goes right in line with my own.

If you're a label reader, and let me tell you I sure am, you might have noticed carrageenan listed as one of the ingredients. When I first saw it listed on a Ben and Jerry's pint (yes, ice cream is OK when eaten in moderation), it brought up a couple of questions for me – What exactly is carrageenan and is it something I should avoid?
Carrageenan is actually extracted from red seaweed, and the name comes from a type of seaweed found growing on the coast of Ireland.
