Jude Has Star Support on His Broadway Hamlet Opening Night

Jude Law took the stage for Hamlet's official opening on Broadway last night. His show got great reviews during his run on London's West End earlier this year, and now he's ready to conquer New York audiences. He worked up a sweat and had some celebrity support for his big night including Natalie Portman who rushed through the red carpet and Ed Westwick who had his usual faces all ready for the cameras. Ed's famous expressions are just part of what landed him on Buzz's list of influential men on TV. Jude kept the celebration going right into the afterparty. His run goes until December 6 and then it's time to promote Sherlock Holmes, which may already have a sequel in the works.

Paula Deen's Awkward Appearance on the View

Food Network host Paula Deen appeared on The View this week to promote her new children's cookbook. Those who caught it know that it wasn't pretty to watch. Put the sassy Paula Deen and the straight-laced Barbara Walters together, and you get an uncomfortable dynamic.

As the ladies of The View sit behind a stupendous spread of fried chicken and other Southern comforts, Paula licks strawberry cake off her fingers and pictures of macaroni and cheese grace the background. Walters then forces the queen of Southern cuisine to answer a rather serious question:

This is a cookbook for kids. Obesity is the number one problem for kids today. Everything you have here is enormously fattening. You tell kids to have cheesecake for breakfast . . . Does it bother you that you are adding to it? No? Not at all?

Stunned, Deen bumbles something about moderation - "you know, we don't eat this every day" - to an unconvinced Walters. But Walters has a point. Not one food item in the supposedly kid-friendly spread could be considered wholesome and healthy. Yet, Barbara comes down hard on Paula. Who comes out on top? Fashion's Night Out Succeeds With Tons of Stars and Parties!

Manhattan was buzzing last night with all the excitement of Fashion's Night Out. It was an amazing way to help kick off New York Fashion Week across the city. Celebrities were out in full force to support the event, holding court at different stores while fans and press mingled, shopped, and spotted the well-dressed stars. Anna Wintour bounced between locations posing with her fashion-icon friends like Charlize Theron, Kate Hudson, and Sienna Miller. The Miller sisters were the guests of honor at the Intermix boutique, while Lindsay Lohan hit up Bloomingdales. Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen were surrounded by crazy security - maybe the most of anyone - for their appearance at Barney's. Meanwhile, Victoria Beckham was incredibly gracious despite the crowd at Bergdorf Goodman, posing with fans and pouting for cameras.

Nicky Hilton and Rachel Zoe were a vision together at the Bally party, while Sarah Jessica Parker laughed with Oscar de la Renta and Barbara Walters at Oscar's boutique. Charlize Theron signed copies of her Vogue September issue while Rihanna sauntered into events with all eyes on her daring black outfit, and Blake Lively held down the preppy front at Ralph Lauren. Beautiful and Influential People Get Together in NYC

The honorees on this year's Time Magazine 100 Most Influential People list came together last night to celebrate at the Lincoln Center in NYC. Some of the fantastic ladies who made the cut - like MIA, Michelle Obama, and Stella McCartney - all hit the red carpet and took the podium to celebrate. For the second night in a row, Stella brought good friends Kate Hudson and Liv Tyler to the event. Obama posed with Oprah while Claire Danes had her fiancé Hugh Dancy by her side. Neither Zac Efron nor Brad Pitt made it to the party, but Jimmy Fallon was still able to keep the crowd entertained when he took the stage.

President-elect Barack Obama has topped Barbara Walters's list of the Most Fascinating People of 2008. The ABC special aired last night, and last year the honor of Most Fascinating Person went to Harry Potter author JK Rowling. While many people probably agree that Obama is the most fascinating figure of the year, it's somewhat surprising that his opponent John McCain did not make the list.

Obama Addresses BlackBerry Rumors

After two weeks of will he or won't he have to hand over his beloved BlackBerry before being inaugurated in January, President-elect Barack Obama set the record straight with ABC's Barbara Walters during an interview last week. Granted, only a minor portion of the interview involved tech and new puppy talk, but Obama did say he's hopeful that he'll still be able to stay connected via his BlackBerry.
