- Plot to Assassinate Obama: Denver authorities announced they had arrested three people on drug and gun charges in connection with a possible plot to assassinate Obama during his speech accepting the nomination Thursday night. The US Attorney Generals office will hold a press conference this afternoon to discuss the "aggressive" inquiry into the case. It's not clear how detailed the plot was before the arrests.

Just 12 days before the already troubled elections in Pakistan, minority leader Benazir Bhutto, recently returned from exile, has been killed in a combination of gunfire and suicide bombing at a rally.
Bhutto had recently voiced concern over her safety, and this tragic realization of her fears will be felt internationally. The United States' strategic relationship with Pakistan was tested in November, when leader Pervez Musharraf imposed a six-week period of emergency rule that threatened to impede the upcoming election.

The new, boy Reese in town was looking a little ridiculous in his getup with two hot women on his arm, but I've been assured that he's really quite endearing in Rocket Science.

Lauren Conrad stopped to grab lunch before hitting up Home Depot for garden supplies yesterday, twittering about her green thumb on her way out. Later in the evening she got dressed up for the Assassins Creed II video-game launch with her friends and former Hills costars Lo Bosworth and Stephanie Pratt. LC is also working hard on the sequel to her bestselling LA Candy — which could make a perfect addition to your holiday wish list — and relayed her excitement about the cover art for book number two which will hit the shelves next year.

Brad Pitt and Casey Affleck had lots of help from their friends for the big premiere of The Assassination of Jesse James at the Toronto Film Festival this weekend. Of course Angelina was right by Brad's side, while Matt Damon and Don Cheadle represented the Ocean's 13 crew and Ben showed the brotherly love. We can't wait to see these hot men playing bad boys on screen and it sounds like it's worth a visit to the movie theater - Brad was just awarded with the best actor title from last week's Venice film festival.
