Understanding and Combatting Terrorism, USMC Major S.M. Grass, 1989:
'Terrorism is a psychological weapon and is directed to create a general climate of fear. As one definition cogently notes, "terror is a natural phenomenon, terrorism is the conscious exploitation of it."

President Obama, speaking at Tuesday's memorial, described the Fort Hood attack as "incomprehensible." But what's incomprehensible about it? Nidal Malik Hasan telegraphed his treachery.

Obama's Injustice Department
The irresponsible Office of Professional Responsibility.
by Michael Stokes Paulsen
Government lawyers in the Department of Justice's Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR) appear to have leaked to the press parts of a confidential--and classified--draft report concerning the actions of Bush administration lawyers. The report calls for state bar associations to investigate, and perhaps discipline, attorneys who provided sensitive legal advice to President Bush's administration concerning the legal limits of coercive interrogation methods against high-level al Qaeda terrorists.

Friday night I was lucky enough to get dressed up to attend Michael Bublé's concert in Minneapolis for his "Call Me Irresponsible" Tour. I can honestly say it was the most entertaining, exhilarating, and surprising (and best) concert I have ever been to. It is definitely true that you can't truly appreciate the man and his music until you see him live.

Just last week we read that the price of designer denim was dropping. Granted many big name jeans still sell for $200, and some people can rationalize that price for a basic wardrobe staple they wear several times a week. I myself have fallen victim to fashion stupidity and shelled out $200+ on Sass & Bide jeans.

The humorous re-writing thus functions as what Hutcheon names "Parodic Satire" ("Tronie" 168), as Winterson challenges a whole way of life, intermingling a profusion of comic effects and intertextual referencesranging from Punch and Judy Shows and Dallas to irreverent allusions to the Romantic poets and botched quotations of their titles of poems. Some aspects of contemporary Western society which are criticized include materialism, capitalism, political and religious Links of London Bracelet, the power of the media, the S Charmwith physical appearance, narcissism, romantic love, illusions and irresponsible attitudes, disrespect for manual labor and emotions, and the importance given to the intellect. More generally and fundamentally, Winterson denounces all forms of tyranny - of totalitarianism, of fanaticism, of fundamentalism - all monologic discourse (R Charm), and all belief in a unique legitimating Truth.

My apologies for having nothing originally in this post. The text was here but didn't show up.
Apparently this article is too long to be printed here, at about 11 pages. It is nevertheless worth reading, unless, as someone has already done, you have made your mind up what to believe before reading.
