Jan Adams, the doctor who performed surgery on Kanye West's mother, has sent his condolences to the West family but declined to discuss the procedure that Donda West underwent before her death.
"I want to first express my deepest condolences to the West family at a very difficult time," Adams says in a statement to Entertainment Tonight. "As a medical doctor practicing in this field, I hold sacred the bond of confidentiality that exists between the patient and doctor.

In between keeping her passengers safe and comfortable, Delta flight attendant Robin Schmidt tends to another mid-air mission -- passing journals among the rows so passengers can help her thank American troops.
Over the last five years, Schmidt has filled hundreds of passenger-written journals and sent them to the troops she "adopts" in Afghanistan and Iraq. Not connected in any way to the military, Schmidt said, "This is just part of who I am.

MANILA, Philippines – One of the most destructive storms in years extended its deadly path across Southeast Asia, blowing down wooden villages in Cambodia and crushing Vietnamese houses under mudslides after submerging much of the Philippine capital.
The death toll Wednesday climbed to 331 and was still rising.

BUFFALO, New York — An Army unit is reviewing how it delivers information to families after a call to a western New York couple led them to believe their son had been killed in combat.
Ray Jasper of Niagara Falls said he, his wife, Robin, and their extended family spent four hours Sunday mourning their son, Sgt. Jesse Jasper, before learning from his girlfriend that he was alive.

At tonight's BET Awards, CNN's Don Lemon attempted to interview Joe Jackson about the death of his son. Jackson answered Lemon's questions with abrupt, detached answers, passed the mic to his spokesperson and attorney, and then promoted his record company.
Jackson's answers were strange right off the bat: Lemon asks him how he's doing, and Jackson responds, "great, I'm doing pretty good," which seems like a peculiar thing to say after one has just lost one's son.

A British man being held hostage in Mali has been executed, his captors said Wednesday, prompting strong condemnation from Britain of a "barbaric" act.
Edwin Dyer was one of four European tourists kidnapped on Jan. 22 as they returned from a music festival.
