Vietnam holds high-profile lawyer
Mr Dinh defended pro-democracy activists
Vietnamese authorities have arrested a high-profile lawyer for allegedly conspiring against the government.
Le Cong Dinh, 41, one of Vietnam's most respected lawyers, has defended a number of pro-democracy activists.
He was alleged to have been found with a copy of a new constitution he wrote aiming to replace the current one.

So old McNamara has gone to his reward. I was rather surprised listening to the radio on the way in that they didn't say the words "war" and "criminal," since it's long been not a fringe but a legitimate mainstream question as to whether McNamara was such during the Vietnam years. He all but acknowledged it himself.

Once upon a time, Joe Lieberman was interesting—not always correct, in my view, but interesting. He was interesting because he thought for himself. On most issues, most senators line up pretty automatically with their party.

MCCAIN SAID:
"Jim, when I came home from prison, I saw our veterans being very badly treated, and it made me sad. And I embarked on an effort to resolve the POW-MIA issue, which we did in a bipartisan fashion, and then I worked on normalization of relations between our two countries so that our veterans could come all the way home.
I guarantee you, as president of the United States, I know how to heal the wounds of war"
BUT:
There is plenty of information detailing the 'difficult' relations between McCain and the POW/MIA community - I've blogged a couple here in the past - there are from a summary article from Salon.com:
"McCain has an icy relationship with the POW/MIA community.

William Calley, the former Army lieutenant convicted on 22 counts of murder in the infamous My Lai Massacre in Vietnam, publicly apologized for the first time this week while speaking in Columbus.
“There is not a day that goes by that I do not feel remorse for what happened that day in My Lai,” Calley told members of the Kiwanis Club of Greater Columbus on Wednesday. His voice started to break when he added, “I feel remorse for the Vietnamese who were killed, for their families, for the American soldiers involved and their families.

This was emailed to me from my college roommate, whose father was a decorated Army officer (now deceased):
You're a 19 year old kid, critically wounded, and dying in the jungle in the Ia Drang Valley, 11-14-1965, LX Xray, Vietnam. Your infantry is outnumbered 8 - 1, and the enemy fire is so intense, from 100 to 200 yards away, that your own Infantry Commander has ordered the MediVac helicopters to stop coming in.
You're lying there, listening to the enemy machine guns, and you know you're not getting out.
