Yesterday, Gov. Sarah Palin (R-AK) sat for an interview with KUSA, an NBC affiliate in Colorado. In response to a question sent to the network by a third grader at a local elementary school about what the Vice President does, Palin erroneously argued that the Vice President is “in charge of the United States Senate“:
Q: Brandon Garcia wants to know, “What does the Vice President do?”
PALIN: That’s something that Piper would ask me!

All of a sudden, people seem to like former Vice President Dick Cheney. Oh, sure, most Americans still don't hold the man in high regard, but at a time when he's suddenly become more visible than he was at times during his term in office, his favorability in one poll has gone up.
In a new CNN poll, 37 percent of respondents said they have a favorable opinion of the former vice president, compared to 55 percent who said they have an unfavorable opinion of him.

For the second time in just over a week, Fox News is coming under fire for misusing old news footage. The latest flap is leading some people to charge that the cable news network is intentionally misleading its audience, while Fox claims a "production error."
Wednesday's incident occurred when Fox News host Gregg Jarrett mentioned that a Sarah Palin appearance and book signing in Grand Rapids, Michigan had a massive turnout.

Dick Cheney: The Most Pro-Gay Vice President in History
January 20, 2009 - by B. Daniel Blatt
Were Dick Cheney not a Republican and not, in the eyes of the left, the most reviled member of the most reviled administration in history, he would leave office with gay leaders and advocates singing his praises. WASHINGTON — Democrat John Edwards tried to cut a secret deal with both Barack Obama and perhaps Hillary Clinton during last year's presidential primaries, offering his endorsement in exchange for the vice presidential nomination, according to a new book by Obama's campaign manager.
Edwards' camp made the offer shortly before the South Carolina primary, when Obama and Clinton had split early contests and Edwards apparently believed he had “maximum leverage” to help deliver Southern white votes to whoever would give him the number two spot on the ticket, according to David Plouffe in his book, "The Audacity to Win."
Plouffe said that Obama ruled out any deals.

Judge rules against women-only holidays

A judge ruled that women-only holidays cannot be advertised because it could breach the human rights of men / File
- Plans to start a women-only holiday service
- Wanted exemption to Equal Opportunity Act
- Judge refuses, say it is not necessary
A SINGLE-sex travel company for women who want to avoid boozy, bed-hopping mixed tour groups has been grounded.
A judge ruled yesterday that former tour guide Erin Maitland cannot advertise women-only holidays because it could breach the human rights of men.
Judge Marilyn Harbison refused to grant Ms Maitland an exemption to the Equal Opportunity Act, ruling that she had not proved it was reasonable or necessary, the Herald Sun reports.
"The exemption may well be convenient and practical in the establishment of her business, but it cannot be justified on human rights principles," said the vice-president of the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal.
In her evidence to VCAT Ms Maitland said she wanted to set up Travel Sisters after hearing stories from her friends who would not travel in mixed tour groups because of "drinking and bed-hopping".
