This week's cover: Why America is falling for 'Glee'
by EW staff
Categories: Glee, This Week's Cover
This season’s most unexpected success story, Glee is snarky, theatrical, totally addictive — and a cult phenomenon on its way to becoming a national obsession. The comedy is currently averaging a steady 8 million viewers a week, and the people watching are enviably young: Five million of its viewers are in the desirable 18–49 demo. (It’s little wonder that in September, Fox made Glee the first new fall series to be given a full 22-episode pickup.) Meanwhile, fans are staying engaged even after the episodes are over by downloading the cast’s newest cover tunes.

Reading through this transcript, I was struck by two things. One was the aroma of self-intoxication. These bureaucrats and artists and activists are utterly besotted by the contemplation of their own virtue.

Overcome by Heat
By Hal G.P. Colebatch
Climate change alarmism has moved firmly into the realms of science-fiction with a piece in the Los Angeles Times claiming that Australia is being ravaged by "drought, fires, killer heat waves, wildlife extinction and mosquito-borne illness." The headline screams: "What will global warming look like?

HE’S HOT, HE’S SEXY, HE’S UNDEAD
Two years ago, Robert Pattinson was a forgotten extra in a ‘Harry Potter’ movie. Then he got cast as a blue-balled vampire in ‘Twilight,’ the year’s kazillion-dollar movie franchise, and every woman in America over 14 wants him. Too bad he’s not sure he wants them
It’s December; Twilight, in which Pattinson, 22, plays an adorably tortured perma-teenage vampire too principled to drink human blood, has been in theaters for about a month.

Robert Downey Jr has plans to help Ben Stiller win an Oscar. Not only are they going to work together again, but they’re going to continue on the long road down bad taste, following Tropic Thunder, and make a movie about conjoined twins.
He told BANG Showbiz: “There is a story about some famous conjoined twins - I don’t remember their names but that’s irrelevant anyway - and I’m going to direct Ben in that film.

POOR Miss Piggy. Like most aging stars in Hollywood, that prima donna pig, along with most of her Muppet pals, has struggled to find substantial roles. Almost nobody under the age of 30 remembers “Pigs in Space.” All everyone wants to talk about is this Hannah Montana person.
