AUSTIN, Texas – Texas gave birth to the modern oil industry, invented the handheld calculator and sent man to the moon. But can the Lone Star State cure cancer?
Texas is ready to try by investing $3 billion over the next decade in cancer research and prevention, which would make the state the gatekeeper of the second largest pot of cancer research dollars in the country, behind only the National Cancer Institute.

Sex and The City actress Cynthia Nixon, 42, is the new ambassador for the Susan G Komen For The Cure organization. Nixon’s mother is a two time breast cancer survivor, and Nixon herself was diagnosed with the disease in 2006. She said she’s been getting regular mamograms since she was 35, and that a small cancerous lump was found on her mammogram when she was 40.

To quote one of Trisha Yearwood's hits, the country star may have been wondering, "How do I live?" during a plane ride last week.
On her way home to Oklahoma from a three-day, 60-mile walk to benefit the Susan G.

Unfortunately a co-worker recently passed away from Breast Cancer. She was the nicest woman, colleague, and friend you could of asked for. She never hesitated to ask you about how you were despite the fact that she had been in chemo that morning, or she was feeling sick.
