I don't know if someone has mentioned this site yet, but since the group is mentioning WIKI-type pages, I thought I'd add this one. Urbandictionary.com is a place to define slang words and words used in today's urban language. The tagline for the site says, "Urban Dictionary is a slang dictionary with your definitions.

I’ve noticed I tend to post things here most when I should be studying. Anyway… so that I can kind of say I’m studying, I figured I’d give ya’ll (I use American AND Canadian slang!) a quick lesson in media theory.
One concept I’ve learned about is called “moral panic.”
A moral panic is described in the following way: “A situation in which something (a person, group, event, etc.) comes to be defined as a threat to societal value and/or interest.”
The following tends to happen once a moral panic has been defined:
The threat is presented in a stereotypical fashion by the media.

It would seem that for decades the mainstream American male hetero-sexual has been molded by cultural perception and paranoia to restrict and confine his male to male affection. Groomed for machismo and a stiff upper lip. Unlike hetero-sexual females who have cultural license to hug, kiss (peck on the cheek), dance, cuddle, say I love you etc.
