Ok, I'm pulling out my old Sketchers roller skates and I want to go skating outside.
However, I don't want to bite it on any of the many bad pieces of sidewalk around the city. I am going to head over to Golden Gate Park on Sundays and skate on the closed roads but where else can one skate without running into crowds of tourists, pedestrians or bad sidewalk?

Published: April 1, 2009
AT a time when life in America is beginning to resemble a roller-coaster ride on the way down and everyone is trying to find ways to save money, it may be instructive — both in terms of offering helpful hints and putting things in perspective — to look at how people ran their households during the Great Depression.
Memories from the Great Depression seem more relevant today than ever. The New York Times is starting a series of video conversations about that painful past and the uncertain future.

I've been feeling very nostalgic lately, so I figured I'd post some of the things that I remember fondly.
1. "My So-Called Life"
Even though I was 19 when this show first aired on NBC, I was OBSESSED with this show about high school sophomores.

Kellie Pickler didn't win the title of American Idol this year, but the pride of Albemarle, N.C., is still getting a shot at country stardom. She's on the charts with "Red High Heels," and just a few aisles over from the shoe department is her debut album, Small Town Girl. Here, the ambitious singer answers questions from fans about finding her talent for writing, being called a ditsy blonde and the country star she'd be honored to sing for.
