There is pressure for women to appear youthful in entertainment and the media, but there is also a youth bias for obituary photos, U.S. researchers said.
The study, published in the Omega-Journal of Death and Dying, found that the number of obituary photographs showing the deceased at a much younger age than when he or she died more than doubled between 1967 and 1997.

It was announced earlier today that Irving Penn has passed away at the age of 92. The revered fashion photographer, known simply as Penn to those who worked with him, began shooting for Vogue in 1943 and over the course of his six-decades long tenure created some of the magazine’s most unexpected and unforgettable images. For more on Penn’s life and work, read The New York Times‘ obituary.

More often than not, when someone is telling me a story all I can think about is that I can’t wait for them to finish so that I can tell my own story that’s not only better, but also more directly involves me.
Nothing sucks more than that moment during an argument when you realize you're wrong.
I don't understand the purpose of the line, "I don't need to drink to have fun."

This just seems weird
Tampa police say Billy Mays, the television pitchman known for his boisterous hawking of products such as Orange Glo and OxiClean, has died. He was 50. Authorities say Mays was pronounced dead this morning after being found by his wife at home.

Today I was contemplating our education system with all it's problems when I had an epiphany.
How can we demonstrate the level of importance of education for the average person---and then I realized---what "reflects" our interests and concerns the most?
Our media perhaps.

My favorite quote from this story:
Davidowitz (Howard Davidowitz, chairman of New York-based retail consultant and investment bank Davidowitz & Associates) doesn't think a huge government stimulus will help. Better to let things bottom out naturally before regrouping. "Obama's plan will make it worse," he says.
