John Mayer never gushed publicly about Jessica Simpson or Minka Kelly, but he has no problem 'fessing his feelings for Justin Timberlake.
"Those of you who've known me for a while are probably familiar with my firm defensive stance when it comes to the state of pop music," Mayer writes on his blog. "I think pop music is on a hot streak right now."

In August, National Public Radio's flagship music program All Songs Considered published "The Best Music of 2009 (So Far)," a rundown of the top 30 songs and albums of the year-to-date as voted by the show's listeners.
The results of the survey suggest that the All Songs Considered audience has a fuzzy understanding of the word "all." "The Best Music of 2009 (So Far)" consists almost entirely of indie-rockers: acts like The Decemberists, Wilco, Grizzly Bear, Neko Case, Andrew Bird, Regina Spektor, and Animal Collective, the Brooklyn art-rock group that took the top spot in both the best songs and best albums tallies.

In honor of Reading Is Sexy's grand opening, I'm going to start off with the series that's has been holding me in a chockhold for going on 10 years now.
Nora Roberts, writing as JD Robb in her not so far distant future has captured my attention since my very good friend lend me a copy of the 1st of the series, Naked In Death. That copy started me on my 10 year journey of hunting and gathering mission to find and read every one of the books in the series.

Sometimes a Pea needs to break away from her pod. This year, Stacy Ferguson, a.k.a. Fergie, went from being the hot-girl garnish on urban hitmakers' the Black Eyed Peas' plate to finding her own stardom, as she watched her late-2006 debut solo album, The Dutchess, spin off five top-10 Billboard singles (and counting).

If You haven't seen 'Dan In Real Life' go out and rent it, plus the soundtrack is fantastic. All the music is done by Sondre Lerche who has become one of my favorite artist right now. His arrangement of 'Let My Love Open The Door To Your Heart' is one of my favorite covers.

I haven't had a shut in movie night in weeks, so I decided tonite's the night. I just got a handful of flicks and American Teen and The Wackness seemed right.
American Teen is so good.

While Beyonce unquestionably garners all the headlines, being the inevitable Diana Ross of the Destiny Child set, folks should remember that more often than not lurking behind every diva are equally talented chanteuses. Kelly Rowland earns this distinction, delivering a much more full-bodied effort, both vocally and musically, on her sophomore endeavor.
Rowland's playfully serious stance is exposed on the jump off track, "Like This," which surges to a Polow the Don groove that is slinky and invigorating.

Well, season three is over, with countless deaths (including the death of a beloved survivor), a mother-daughter reunion, an unlikely hero, an astral projection (or something) of a long-lost character, and a flashback that wasn't a flashback at all. I'm floored. Simply floored.

Hey y'all. I've been a bit busy with the job search lately, and wanted to get to a Music Fix issue soon. I have a 'British Invasion' theme I have in mind, so I think I'll work on that this weekend.
