((Sorry this is so long, and the language is rough...))
On a muggy Florida evening in 2008, I meet Iraq War veteran Forrest Fogarty in the Winghouse, a little bar-restaurant on the outskirts of Tampa, his favorite hangout. Every day a United States Veteran walks into a college administrative office to have their military education transcripts evaluated and they are offered in return only credit for PE.

At a rally in Bethlehem, Pa. last week, Cindy McCain spoke about having two sons serving on active duty: "I'm proud of my sons, but let me tell you, the day that Senator Obama cast a vote not to fund my son when he was serving sent a cold chill through my body. After hundreds of reader nominations, Military Spouse magazine (MSM) is honored to announce Mrs. Chelle Brewer as the 2008 Military Spouse of the Year, sponsored by TriWest Healthcare Alliance (MSOY).
The MSOY represents the positive qualities of a military spouse and is truly an “alpha woman.” The MSOY is both inspirational and representative of the endearing qualities of military spouses. MSM will honor our winner throughout 2008 during promotions and public events.

FORT DRUM, New York (AFP) – The chairman of the US joint chiefs of staff said Monday the United States was still "not done" in Iraq but that the military's primary focus was now the war in Afghanistan.
"You have turned it around in Iraq," Admiral Mike Mullen told several hundred soldiers at the Fort Drum US Army base in New York state.
"A year or two ago we were not in a situation where it looked like we could succeed.

Just another reason to follow @USArmy on twitter. They just posted a link to this story:
Seventeen year-old Brittany Wallace has just been awarded the first ever Military Child Award for the courage and compassion she showed her family after her dad, Staff Sgt. Robert Henline, was the only survivor of a roadside bomb in Iraq.
