What is marine biology and what is a marine biologist?
This is a harder question to answer than you may imagine! Marine biology is the field of knowledge relating to marine organisms.

WASHINGTON – The Marine Corps left troops in Iraq vulnerable to deadly roadside bombs by failing to answer an urgent request from battlefield commanders for blast-resistant vehicles, according to an internal Pentagon investigation obtained by The Associated Press. Acquisition officials shelved the February 2005 request for the "MRAPs" (pronounced EM-raps) after Marine leaders decided armored versions of the Humvee were the best answer to the improvised explosive devices that became the signature weapon of the Iraq war. However, the beefier Humvees proved incapable of withstanding the increasingly powerful IEDs.

A bar in DC, Hawk n' Dove, which is near Capitol Hill, allegedly recently denied entry to two Marines. The bar has yet to give a firm answer as to why. One representative said that some Marines from the nearby barracks had caused problems one night, so they denied entry only to Marines from those barracks (despite the fact that the Marines who were recently denied entry were from Quantico).

When Maj. Brian Dennis of the United States Marine Corps met a wild stray dog with shorn ears while serving in Iraq, he had no idea of the bond they would form, leading to seismic changes in both their lives. "The general theme of the story of Nubs is that if you're kind to someone, they'll never forget you -- whether it be person or animal," Dennis tells Paw Nation.

Tandoori turkey in the oven
For a few years now I've wanted to try to marry the traditional Southern Indian food my husband grew up enjoying with Thanksgiving as I know it (Southern girl with a love of spice and heat).
So this year I did a trial run of a tandoori-style turkey made in the oven. By next year I hope to build my own tandoor, or at least grill this guy, because it needs a little more heat to crisp up properly.
