Legalize marijuana? Schwarzenegger says let’s debate it

California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger (not actual size) on Tuesday said it was time for a discussion on the idea of legalizing and taxing marijuana. Although he said he doesn't support it now, he welcomed a debate on the issue.

Milgram says medical marijuana proposal 'workable' but she has enforcement concerns
TRENTON - New Jersey's Attorney General Anne Milgram said she is concerned about enforcing the proposed state medicinal marijuana laws to ensure only patients can use the drug.
But she said the proposal is "workable" and her office sent recommendation to the governor's office to guard against abuses.
Under the bill, patients would have to register with the state.

Amy Winehouse’s hospital dash in July was the result of marijuana poisoning and not a reaction to medication, a British tabloid report has claimed.
The Rehab singer was admitted to a London hospital on July 28th after falling ill at her home.
Her representative subsequently released a statement blaming her condition on an adverse reaction to medication she is taking to help kick her drug addiction - which the star’s father Mitch has also backed.

The comments at the end of the article are interesting. I'm still on the fence on this issue as I can see both sides of legalizing vs. not legalizing marijuana.

For five days, searchers had scoured the dense vines and marshes around the baby's rural home, knowing that every hour a child is missing, the chances of finding them alive decreases.

Actress Dawn Wells, who played the character Mary Ann on Gilligan's Island, was caught with marijuana in her car, the AP reports.
Wells, 69, is serving six months of unsupervised probation, according to the AP.
On October 18, Wells was pulled over because she was driving erratically in Teton County, Idaho.

SACRAMENTO — A blistering new report concludes that state corrections officials failed repeatedly to properly supervise accused rapist and kidnapper Phillip Garrido for 10 years, missing numerous opportunities to discover that he had allegedly kept Jaycee Lee Dugard captive in his Antioch-area backyard during the entire time California authorities were supposed to be keeping watch over him.
Among the mistakes by state parole agents who supervised Garrido from 1999 until his latest arrest in August was a failure to investigate why there was a 12-year-old girl inside the home of a registered sex offender, why "clearly visible utility lines" were running from Garrido's home to a concealed compound where he allegedly kept Dugard and why agents took no action when they received information "clearly showing Garrido had violated his parole terms.
