So, I was visiting friends in San Francisco recently, and I was struck by how they all refer to Mayor Gavin Newsom as just "Gavin." Like he's their friend, their pal. And how they all seemed to think it was kind of adorable that he is going to run for Governor (though the consensus is he has no chance of winning).

Democrats Called Foley Guilty of Sex Crimes
By Jeffrey Lord
The magic number is 16.
Just last night, on Sean Hannity's Fox Show, ABC's George Stephanopoulos said in defense of the liberal media's non-coverage of Kevin Jennings, that a person's entire career should be taken into consideration before they are sent packing from public service.
Fair enough.

SAN FRANCISCO — The surviving family members of a man and his two sons who were allegedly shot dead last year by an illegal immigrant can sue The City in state court, a federal judge ruled.
Anthony Bologna, 48, and his sons Michael, 20, and Matthew, 16, were gunned down as they sat in their car at an intersection near their home in the Excelsior district June 22, 2008. A lawsuit claims The City contributed to the deaths of Danielle Bologna’s husband, Anthony Bologna, and two of their sons, through its sanctuary city policy.

Throwing orange peels, coffee grounds and grease-stained pizza boxes in the trash will be against the law in San Francisco, and could even lead to a fine.
The Board of Supervisors voted 9-2 Tuesday to approve Mayor Gavin Newsom's proposal for the most comprehensive mandatory composting and recycling law in the country. It's an aggressive push to cut greenhouse gas emissions and have the city sending nothing to landfills or incinerators by 2020.

I have been coming across a lot of articles dealing with this sanctuary policy. Not telling neighboring towns that they are being given not only JD's but illegal ones at that. One young man, american born and raised, was asked "Where are you from?"

A City Committed to Recycling Is Ready for More
By FELICITY BARRINGER

SAN FRANCISCO — Mayor Gavin Newsom is competitive about many things, garbage included. When the city found out a few weeks ago that it was keeping 70 percent of its disposable waste out of local landfills, he embraced the statistic the way other mayors embrace winning sports teams, improved test scores or declining crime rates.
The San Francisco Recycling Center processes about 750 tons of recyclables a day, and Mayor Gavin Newsom wants to add to that total.

Californians voted Tuesday to ban same-sex marriage, setting the stage for a court battle over the legitimacy of roughly 16,000 such marriages – including those of celeb couples Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi and Star Trek's George Takei and Brad Altman.
With nearly 96 percent of the votes counted, controversial Proposition 8 passed by just over 52 percent (The initiative had drawn widespread opposition from Hollywood celebrities, including Brad Pitt, director Steven Spielberg, and even California's Republican Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger).

In 2004 I was living in east Oakland and was lucky enough to be near the maelstrom when Gavin Newsom gave the approval for San Francisco City Hall to conduct same sex marriages. It was a beautiful thing to be around. I think same sex partners should have the right to be married.
