Since 1947, Filene's in Boston has hosted a bridal gown sale that has brides-to-be (and their accomplices) lining up in the early hours just to get inside and fight with other women for gowns. What's the deal? The merchandise is new, with original tags, often originally priced in the thousands...and each gown is just $249.

Friendly fire: NYT hits Obama

The leading liberal voices of the New York Times editorial pages all criticized—and, in some cases, clobbered—President Obama on Sunday for his handling of the economy and national security.
It's not unusual for Barack Obama to take a little friendly fire from the Times. But it's perhaps unprecedented for him to get hit on the same day by columnists Frank Rich, Thomas Friedman and Maureen Dowd—and in the paper's lead editorial.

Nathalie Kay 'Tippi' Hedren (born January 19, 1930,is an American actress and former fashion model with a career spanning six decades. She is primarily known for her roles in two Alfred Hitchcock films, The Birds and Marnie, and her extensive efforts in animal rescue at Shambala Preserve, an 80-acre (320,000 m2) wildlife habitat which she founded in 1983. Hedren is the mother of actress Melanie Griffith, and they share credits on six films, notably Pacific Heights (1990).Hedren was born in New Ulm, Minnesota, the daughter of Dorothea Henrietta (née Eckhardt) and Bernard Carl Hedren.
