Whose Medical Decisions?
Concerns about bureaucrats deciding who get to receive medical care didn’t “arise from nowhere.”
By Thomas Sowell
There was a time when rushing a thousand-page bill through Congress so fast that no one has time to read it would have provoked public outrage. But now, this has been attempted twice in the first six months of a new administration.

Utah's congressional delegation is calling President Obama's decision to move the U.S. census into the White House a purely partisan move and potentially dangerous to congressional redistricting around the country.

Are you overwhelmed with the daily decisions you have to make? Maybe you thought that your food choices are the easiest decisions in your day, but according to recent research, on average, we actually make an average of 221 food-related decisions each day!
Brian Wansink, the author of the book Mindless Eating: Why We Eat More Than We Think offers these tips on how to prevent overeating and make the decision making process a little less exhausting:
- Use smaller bowls.
- Avoid eating directly from the package.
- Bank your calories (e.g., skip the appetizer if you want to indulge in dessert).
- Dine next to the slowest eater at the table.
- Eat the foods you love but in smaller portions.
- Pick two of the following: appetizer, drink or dessert.
- Fill half your plate with vegetables, and the other half with protein and starch.
- Keep tempting treats out of sight.
- Sit at least an arm's length away from the buffet table or snack bowl.

Most of my life I've often wondered why Thanksgiving seemed to be for many families a trigger word for family dysfuction. Why individuals couldn't just let that disagreement with another family member go for one bloody day and enjoy some good food and conversation with more pleasant family members. I have to keep reminding my self that I'm pragmatic by nature and that is apparently unusual.
I found an article with some helpful tips.
Holidays are meant to be happy, joyous and life-affirming times.

As evidenced in my holiday TV sneak peek, this week's episode of Grey's Anatomy puts the doctors on a fast track that starts on Thanksgiving eve and runs through New Year's Eve. As we all know by now, the Seattle Grace surgeons aren't always big on merriment, but the holidays are always the perfect time to bring out the truth in feelings and relationships.
