ALBANY, New York (CNN) -- Like many New Yorkers, I remember a time when nearly everyone smoked. In 1950, Collier's reported that more than three-quarters of adult men smoked. This epidemic had a devastating and long-lasting impact on public health.

The White-Racism Chorus [Abigail Thernstrom]
Did Attorney General Eric Holder really want honest talk when in February he called for “frank conversations” about race?
“Honest” talk, as the MSM and much of the chattering Left defines it, consists of slamming most whites as racist.

David Paterson has learned a thing or two from the former New York state governor's sex scandal: He’s not keeping any skeletons in his closet.
On the same day he was sworn in, Paterson, 53, admitted to having an extramarital affair.
He tells New York’s Daily News that he began seeing “a woman other than my wife” for a few years beginning in 1999 when his marriage of 15 years “appeared to be going sour.”
Paterson insists he did not use government or campaign funds to pay for his romantic getaways.
