President Barack Obama said in Turkey : "We do not consider ourselves a Christian nation or a Jewish nation or a Muslim nation. We consider ourselves a nation of citizens who are bound by ideals and a set of values."
I found this very interesting.

Is ObamaCare Constitutional?
August 17th, 2009 by Rob Natelson
During the Bush administration, many within the dominant culture expressed concern about the constitutionality of detaining several hundred alleged enemy combatants in Guantanamo.
Whenever legal restrictions on abortion are proposed, many express doubt about the constitutionality of interjecting government between patients and their doctors.

ESCONDIDO, CA—Spurred by an administration he believes to be guilty of numerous transgressions, self-described American patriot Kyle Mortensen, 47, is a vehement defender of ideas he seems to think are enshrined in the U.S. Constitution and principles that brave men have fought and died for solely in his head.
\
Kyle Mortensen would gladly give his life to protect what he says is the Constitution's very clear stance against birth control.

The Hits Just Keep Coming
By Lisa Fabrizio
Having returned to these fair shores after an overseas trip, the end of which culminated in a total of 13 hours of flight time, it was with a general sense of relief and peace that I betook myself a seat in my favorite pew in my local parish for Mass last Sunday. But, as has too often happened in the past few months, examples of our Lord’s predictions of persecution and calumny against those who believe in him came true once again as our learned pastor took to the pulpit to address us.
It seems that our Diocese of Bridgeport -- which in March was forced to marshal the faithful to defend itself from unconstitutional government interference -- was notified by the Connecticut Office of State Ethics that it is under investigation for possible violations of the state’s lobbying laws.

From Citizens to "Stakeholders": The New American Constitution
By Angelo M. Codevilla
"I'm going to get everybody concerned around a big table where all can express their views and their needs. And I'll express mine, and that will make sense of them all because I'll be president."

Biden Reinforces the Point posted by Shannen Coffin
Vice President Cheney had a little fun at his successor-to-be's expense today, telling Fox News Sunday that he didn't take Joe Biden's criticism of his tenure too seriously because Joe Biden doesn't know the Constitution from a hole in the ground. Bill Sammon reports that Cheney said: "Joe's been chairman of the Judiciary Committee, a member of the Judiciary Committee in the Senate for 36 years, teaches constitutional law back in Delaware, and can't keep straight which article of the Constitution provides for the legislature and which provides for the executive. So I think I'd write that off as campaign rhetoric.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Obama administration threw open the curtain on years of Bush-era secrets Monday, revealing anti-terror memos that claimed exceptional search-and-seizure powers and divulging that the CIA destroyed nearly 100 videotapes of interrogations and other treatment of terror suspects.
The Justice Department released nine legal opinions showing that, following the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, the Bush administration determined that certain constitutional rights would not apply during the coming fight.

TESS VIGELAND:
Michigan is among the states facing massive deficits. Last week the legislature approved $134 million worth of budget cuts. And of course the auto industry's woes aren't going away any time soon.

Charity and the good ol' Constitution
By FRANK MIELE (NW Montana Daily Inter lake)
"Where do you find in the Constitution any authority to give away the public money in charity?"It might be a question out of today's headlines, but it isn't.No doubt, it could rightly be asked in the health-care debate, but it goes well beyond that. In every disaster, in every disturbance, the federal government today is ready with a checkbook at hand to help those in need. Hurricane Katrina?
