Don’t you ever sit in the library and think, “This is alright, but what we really need are some books about plastic surgery for kids.” No? Odd. I’m pretty sure most of us have come upon this common problem: how do we explain our new breasts, our oddly arched eyebrows, or our creaseless faces to our four-year-olds?

My favorite children's book growing up was Harry The Dirty Dog. I used to read it over and over! I bought it for my son and he loves it as well.

My daughter asked me to post about this little book she's reading. She just saw me making a post to the Book Club.
Obviously as we are Portuguese and she's only been 7, she is reading the Portuguese translation.

Although she made her name as Posh Spice in the Spice Girls, Victoria Beckham was in anything but posh surroundings earlier this month during a two-day trip to Clay County, Kentucky. Visiting on behalf of Save the Children USA and accompanied by her 10 ½-year-old son Brooklyn Joseph, Victoria was on hand to gain a better understanding of childhood poverty in the United States.
By her own account, the trip was both eye-opening and inspirational.

When she was running for governor of Alaska in 2006, Sarah Palin reportedly said that even if her then-14-year-old daughter were raped, she would "choose life" and force her to bear a child. Comments like that that have endeared the fiery Alaskan politician to most pro-life voters, who lionized her for not aborting her Down's Syndrome baby. But Trig isn’t enough to protect Palin from a phalanx of anti-abortion activists who plan to protest her appearance on Thursday to promote her book in the conservative heartland of Indiana.

Sarah Palin didn't put an index in her book. So we made one for her.

She is much more Religious Right then I like in Conservative politicians, but I still found her interesting.
The new wave of female firebrands striking fear into liberal America
Right-wing radicals are already pinning presidential ambitions on a mother-of-five from Minnesota who calls herself a 'fool for Christ' and condemns Obama as a socialist at the head of a gangster regime

(CNN) -- They don`t call it "Twi Crack" for nothing.Lisa Hansen, for example, thought she had lost her mind the first time she read "Twilight." Partly because she`s 36."I was absolutely worried that something was wrong with me," the Utah mother of two said. "I just couldn`t put it down -- I was obsessed completely."She picked up the first of Stephenie Meyer`s vampire novels -- recommended by a teen neighbor -- with few expectations.

I picked this book up at a Borders that was going out of business a long time ago on the vague notion that it was being made into a film and haven't thought about it since. Even in my great stack of books, I seriously considered skipping it, especially since there are three book to film adaptations coming out next weekend and two the following weekend. But I picked it up anyway when I saw the big print that's used so often in Children's Lit and figuring I needed a break from some of the heavy stuff I've been reading.

Palestinian children turned out in big numbers on a beach in the northern Gaza Strip in an attempt to break the world record for kite flying. More than 6,000 children gathered to fly more than 3,000 kites, according to the United Nations, which organised it.
The previous record was set in Germany last year - when the Guinness Book of World Records says 967 kites took to the sky simultaneously.
