Aug 08, 2009 - WASHINGTON — The changing global climate will pose profound strategic challenges to the United States in coming decades, raising the prospect of military intervention to deal with the effects of violent storms, drought, mass migration and pandemics, military and intelligence analysts say. Such climate-induced crises could topple governments, feed terrorist movements or destabilize entire regions, say the analysts, experts at the Pentagon and intelligence agencies who for the first time are taking a serious look at the national security implications of climate change. Recent war games and intelligence studies conclude that over the next 20 to 30 years, vulnerable regions, particularly sub-Saharan Africa, the Middle East and South and Southeast Asia, will face the prospect of food shortages, water crises and catastrophic flooding driven by climate change that could demand an American humanitarian relief or military response. - 4 Comments

Please Note Sugar Changes That Will Affect Citizen 4.0

Aug 23, 2009 - So, the new "better" version of user generated content and groups is here.  There are a lot of changes, some good, some bad, some kinks they're working on over the weekend.   There's one big change I've noticed that will definitely affect this group, and that is that haus and I can no longer edit your posts.  Some of you may know that I will regularly fix html, edit a vague subject line, or provide an article source if it's inadvertently left out, but I can no longer do that, so please be extra careful with your posts.   The other thing I notice right off the bat is that you now have the option to compose your post in rich text or in html.  If you want to use html to embed a video, an image, or use html to bold or italicize text, you need to click "Switch to raw html" underneath the box where you type your post.  So, that is to say, if you were bolding text <b>like this</b>, you need to use the "Switch to raw html" option.  Same goes if you are copying and pasting the code to embed a youtube video or something like that. - 32 Comments
