I was born to a non practicing Methodist Father and a practicing Catholic Mother and raised around my mothers Catholic Latin family. When I became a teen my mother told me that if I went to church from now on it would be my choice. That was the day I stopped going to church with my mother.

The Strasbourg ruling caused outrage in the Italian media
The Greek Orthodox Church is urging Christians across Europe to unite in an appeal against a ban on crucifixes in classrooms in Italy.
The European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg ruled last week that the presence of crucifixes violated a child's right to freedom of religion.
Greece's Orthodox Church fears the Italian case will set a precedent.

According to www.msnbc.msn.com, during a two-day youth rally at Loreto, Italy Pope Benedict XVI closed the Sunday morning with a mass that was "the first environmentally friendly youth rally, a break from past gatherings that left tonnes of garbage and scars on the earth."
The Pope, intentionally dressed in green vestments, appealed to young Catholics to make "Courageous choices that can re-create a strong alliance between man and earth must be made before it is too late."

Does God Favor an Unlimited State?
By Mark Tooley on 9.8.09 @ 6:07AM
The Religious Left sacramentalizes nearly every proposed expansion of the Welfare State, with government-controlled health care its favorite sacrament. Supporting arguments are usual superficial: Jesus loved the poor, therefore the state must displace all other human institutions and provide every human need.

PARIS – A Muslim woman garbed in a head-to-toe swimsuit — dubbed a "burquini" — may have opened a new chapter in France's tussle between religious practices and its stern secular code.
Officials insisted Wednesday they banned the woman's use of the Islam-friendly suit at a local pool because of France's pool hygiene standards — not out of hostility to overtly Muslim garb.
Under the policy, swimmers are not allowed in pools with baggy clothing, including surfer-style shorts.

I'm dating a guy that I have known for about twelve years; at the time that I met him, we were both married. We are now both divorced; he has three kids from his marriage and I have two. I pretty much live at his home even though I still have my house and my kids go to the school that they attended since before my divorce.

Not that long ago, there was a time in our US history where those of Irish or Italian descent were not able to hold public office. Irish and Italian immigrants were subject to extreme prejudice, racism, and, in many cases, violence. Signs of "Irish Need Not Apply" were common and Italian being seen as non-Anglo and non-white, were the second most likely ethnic group to be arrested and/or lynched.
