Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal is presenting the Republican Response tonight!
High stakes for Obama and Jindal this week
By Chris Stirewalt - Political Editor 2/23/09
It’s been a rough takeoff for President Barack Obama, but his fifth week in office offers him a chance to shake off his jitters and demonstrate the cool composure for which he is famous...
His team has looked amateurish, and his ideas have been poorly received....

I just read this morning that Gov. Bobby Jindal decided to veto the bill that the legislature had passed that would have given themselves a 125% pay raise.
Part of Jindal's platform while running for Governor was that he would not allow the legislature to give themselves a pay raise...

Recently Louisianans voted Bobby Jindal as our Governor. Only four years ago he ran against Kathleen Blanco and lost due to some deep-rooted racism (Jindal is Indian) and other backwards thinking.
Once the state (and nation and world) saw how incompetent Blanco was with Katrina in 2005, most citizens in Louisiana realized it was time to elect someone new, someone with fresh ideas and someone who could and would really attack the corruption in Louisiana state politics.

WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama, who accused former President George W. Bush of leading a government "that sits on its hands while a major American city drowns," is hearing directly from New Orleans residents who have struggled to rebuild their city since the 2005 hurricane season.
Obama arrives in New Orleans Thursday on his first presidential trip to the hurricane-ravaged Gulf Coast.

Jindal Admits Katrina Story Was False
By Zachary Roth - February 27, 2009, 12:39PM
Looks like the game is up.
Remember that story Bobby Jindal told in his big speech Tuesday night -- about how during Katrina, he stood shoulder-to-shoulder with a local sheriff who was battling government red tape to try to rescue stranded victims?
Turns out it wasn't actually, you know, true.

Jindal Signals Louisiana May Not Take Stimulus Money
Posted by Brian Montopoli| 81
Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal, a potential 2012 GOP presidential candidate, has suggested his state may not be interested in all of the roughly $4 billion allotted to it in the economic stimulus package to be signed by President Obama today.
"We'll have to review each program, each new dollar to make sure that we understand what are the conditions, what are the strings and see whether it's beneficial for Louisiana to use those dollars," Jindal said, according to CBS affiliate WWLTV.
Jindal is scheduled to give the response to the president’s not-exactly-a-state-of-the-union address next Tuesday.

I got a pretty big kick out of Bibby Jindal's responses to the Presidents not State of the Union speech Tuesday night. His Southern accent was much more pronounced then is was on Meet the Press on Sunday. I was appalled that he used Katrina to try to show us that government doesn't work.

Reality check for Vice President Joe Biden
SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA channel 12, Ark-Tex-LA) - Giving the republican response to President Obama's speech Tuesday night, Governor Bobby Jindal pointed out fundamental differences in how republicans and democrats see the economy.
"But what I don't understand from Governor Jindal is what would he do?," asks Joe Biden while on the Early Show.
That rhetorical question to Governor Jindal on the Early Show, was followed with this.

I never read this site but it was linked today on Citizen and I read this article - very interesting points, I wanted to share.
When a 19 year-old white supremacist recently gained a seat on the Palm Beach County Republican Executive Committee, the election created such an outcry that embarrassed local politicians used a technicality to block his seating. The entire process was buffoonish, although the views of the spawn of a grand wizard of the KKK and his supporters were not.

Not that long ago, there was a time in our US history where those of Irish or Italian descent were not able to hold public office. Irish and Italian immigrants were subject to extreme prejudice, racism, and, in many cases, violence. Signs of "Irish Need Not Apply" were common and Italian being seen as non-Anglo and non-white, were the second most likely ethnic group to be arrested and/or lynched.
