This week’s Time cover story is “The List Issue”. The Time editors and writers rank the top ten everything of 2008 - top ten break-ups, top ten books, top ten scandals, top ten animal stories, under-reported stories, songs, slogans etc. The only list they forgot was the one I was really looking forward to (that they had last year) - top ten magazine covers.

So after getting back from work last night I happened to catch the 2008 Mtv Movie Awards. I really could care less who won or who was there; I just wanted to see what people wore or as they like to say it, "Who are they wearing?"
Here are my top 3 in no particular order:
Ben Barnes
I don't know what else to say but this man is gorgeous.

The year 2008 and Lance is getting ready for his second club match. He was looking forward to seeing his friends again and was a bit nervous too. After nearly an hour in the car he had arrived at the club match and had to enter with loud barking of all the other dogs to welcome him.

So after catching the opening of this year's Mtv VMA I decided that I rather watch paint dry than that crap fest. My God was I the only one who thought it was a snooze, and I started getting "secondhand embarrassment" for Russell Brand, the British comedian who hosted the show. *shakes heads*
But instead of watching paint dry I came up with a better idea: making my Best Dressed list.

Twenty Years After the Fall
By George Friedman
We are now at the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall and the beginning of the collapse of the Soviet empire in Eastern Europe. We are also nearing the 18th anniversary of the fall of the Soviet Union itself. This is more than simply a moment for reflection — it is a moment to consider the current state of the region and of Russia versus that whose passing we are now commemorating.

But not for Cubans. The Miami Herald reports that Cuban blogger Yaoni Sanchez, one of Time's "heroes and pioneers" of 2008, was beaten and detained by the secret police, though fails to mention that her free health care will cover all injures sustained.

In these days of hybrid cars and carbon credits, it is common knowledge that substances exhaled by autos and coal plants are harmful to our respiratory system. What may be surprising is the degree to which they may harm the brain—in some instances, as much as exposure to lead. A recent string of studies from all over the world suggests that common air pollutants such as black carbon, particulate matter and ozone can negatively affect vocabulary, reaction times and even overall intelligence.

Conservatives say they pushed Dede Scozzafava out of the House race in New York’s 23rd District a week ago because of her left-of-Republican social views — and not because she is a woman.
But the growing schism between the Republican Party’s ascendant right wing and its shrinking moderate core has clear gender undertones — and Scozzafava’s departure raises fresh questions about the GOP’s ability to recruit, elect and even tolerate the sort of moderate women who used to be part of its ruling mainstream.
While Republicans scored a pair of impressive electoral victories in New Jersey and Virginia with solid support among female voters, the events of the last week offer harbingers of serious trouble ahead with the largest swing voter bloc in the country — women.
